Mason Is Lost. Just Like Most
Mason Sato + Open First Thread | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It was his first week at Panacea Academy- and Mason was still finding his way around… Certainly he knew where his dorm room, cafeteria and most of his classes were. Most. One of his elective classes he had chosen to take was Japanese. He was particularly looking forward to taking Japanese and learning to speak that language one day. Problem was, he wasn’t exactly sure where he needed to go.
Panacea Academy was a lot bigger and a lot different to his old school. It was small wonder that the freshman was lost- or at least confused, on campus. Looking at the campus map, didn’t really help. Yes- he could see certain reference points here and there around him, but they didn’t seem to relate to what was shown on the map. Mason gave a long sigh to himself- resigned to the fact he was well and truly lost. What was worse- he was probably going to be late for his Japanese class, or miss it all togrther. That was great- one week here and he and he was probably heading for detention. Looking around him didn’t really help it all. Everything looked even more different and confusing. “Oh Nut-Bunnies!” he muttered sourly to himself.
Thanks!

Sebastian was walking to class when he saw an angry student. He heard the student exclaim something which confirmed his suspicion that he was frustrated with something. He didn't know how old the student was, but he was looking at the map of the school. Maybe he was lost? Sebastian wondered. he remembered how tough it was navigating around campus in his first year. Back then, he had wandered to the stable by accident and then was lost staring at the beautiful horses. Horses, as far as Sebastain was concerned, were the most beautiful creature on the face of the planet. Anyway, besides the theatre, the stables were a place where Sebastian hung out whenever he was stressed out. The horses just made him smile and relax. "Hey, you need help with something?" Sebastian didn't want to embarrass the student by asking him if he was lost, though that was certainly obvious. Mason Sato

Mason Is Lost. Just Like Most
First Thread | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Really- hardly a week now he had been at Panacea Academy and Mason was already lost. Not only was the situation embarrassing, it was also frustrating. Mason hated to be late, because not only was it rude, it also meant he had to hurry to wherever he needed to be. More than once in the past he had been scolded for being late, tardy or not being where he needed to. Being new to the school, the LAST thing he wanted was a teacher on his class.
Sighing to himself yet again and frowning at the map in his hand- turning it this way, then that, trying to figure out where exactly he was. Eventually he resigned himself to his fate- he was lost. Hopelessly lost. Again he gave a disappointed sigh. He had been trying so hard to not be late to his classes today... "Hey, you need help with something?" a voice said to him from behind him. Looking up from his map. Mason found himself looking at a kid he had never seen before. At first he figured that the kid was made a Junior at Panacea, since he was taller than him. He dismissed that assumption, since pretty much every boy at Panacea was taller than him. He had a mop of blonde hair and his eyes were a blue color that seemed to regard him at length. Was this boy a bully, planning to menace him? Mason wasn't sure. He did seem like he was a bully- but then what did he know? It would be wrong to judge him by first impressions.
That lead him to make a consideration as to what HE must look to this boy. He was shorten than him and most likely not someone who he had ever seen- not that he expected the taller boy to know every kid at Panacea Academy. By now he would have made two assumptions about him. One, he was a new kid- he hadn't called him by his name when he greeted him. Secondly, he probably figured out he was a Freshman- not necessarily because of his lack of height. Not that he tried not to much, Mason looked like a kid who probably played sport. Short as he might be, he had a energy about him that was explosive as if any second now, he might jump up and race away. Even under his uniform, there was an athletic look to him from the way his clothes sat snuggly upon his person. His brown hair was slightly shaggy in nature and at one point seemed to have had a light brown tint to it, that had grown out so that only the tips of his hair retained the color.
Well- it was pretty obvious to Mason that he was lost. Hopelessly lost. He needed help to find out where he was and where he needed to go. Therefore it behoved him to reach out for help. Even from a complete stranger. Which pretty much everyone was here at Panacea Academy. So being defensive was not in his best interest. Mason sighed- yet again, then held up his map of the campus. "Umm- yes" he admitted with a slightly sheepish look and manner, "I'm uber-lost...".
Thanks!

Sebastian couldn't help smile at the uber-lost comment. He wasn't going to laugh, but it was just weird. The kid was obviously stressed. Was he late to class? Was he just lost? "Where are you trying to go?" Sebastian asked quietly. Again, he didn't want to embarrass the young boy, While there were classes Sebastian didn't take, he thought he could help the boy out. If he couldn't, he could always refer him to the right building and hopefully the directory would help the boy find his way. But first, he needed to know where he was going. Once again, Sebastian remembered his first day trying to find his class and instead he wiled the day at the stables field feeding and petting the horses. They were so gorgeous. So majestic. So muscular. So mild. He suddenly had a wild thought. He remembered there was a photograph of him at nine or ten beside a horse. The horse's head was as big as most of Sebastian's body. He smiled at the memory. Then he wondered what would have happened to him had the horse been a carnivore instead of an herbivore. And he imagined the horse becoming like a dinosaur and just taking the little Sebastian in his huge mouth and eating him. Mason Sato

Mason Is Lost. Just Like Most
First Thread | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Honestly Mason needed to NOT be lost right now. He was pretty sure that his teachers were annoyed enough with him being late, that he didn't need them to be angry at him. How to do that- not be late for class. But he was lost. Lost and annoyed at the situation which he seemed to have no control over. The best he could do was try his best to not be late. Eventually, yes he would one day be getting lost anymore on campus.
The blonde boy who spoke to him seemed to be whispering to him. Why, he did know. "Trying to get to my Japanese class actually. Thought it as over here but..." he said looking at his map in vain, "I can't find it". That much was obvious by now. Mason could only hope this boy could- and would, help him out of the bind he was in.
Thanks!

"Oh! The language building." Sebastian exclaimed. "It's that building over there." And he pointed to a building. Sebastian took Spanish two semesters and then dropped it. He wasn't very good at memorizing things. And quite honestly, it wasn't going to be something he was going to use in his future. He was going to be an actor. Unless somehow he was offered a script in Spanish for a TV show or movie, he wasn't going to need to know Spanish. As far as he knew. Anyway, he looked at the younger boy and hoped he had relieved his stress. Suddenly, he realized he didn't have his school bag with him and he didn't know where it could possibly be. He knew he had it with him when he left his dorm Then he went to the theatre. It couldn't be there, could it? He would have to return there and take a look. It stunk that he had misplaced it. He weas sure he was going to find it again, but this just annoyed him. "Do you know what room you're looking for?" Sebastian asked the boy. Even if he wanted to hurry back to the theatre to look for his bag, he wanted to make sure the boy was satisfied that he could find his class. Mason Sato

Mason Is Lost. Just Like Most
First Thread | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | At last! Someone who might well might be able to help him... So he looked in the direction of the so called Language Building. Emitting a deep groan and rolling his eyes in an oh-so-teenage manner, Mason looked again at his map. Sure enough- as one might expect, there was no Language Building mentioned on his map. Well...that was SO not helpful. That aside, Mason now knew where he needed to go in future (after looking around at the building about him) for Japanese class. Yet another mystery about Panacea Academy solved one could say.
The reason that Mason had chosen Japanese as an elective, was that he was part-Japanese. It had been a few generations since his ancestor had arrived in the country, yet Mason was encouraged by his older relatives to be aware of his ancestry. Until now he had only learnt a few minor phrases in that language and knew the meaning of slight more words over the last few years. At that moment, he had been thinking maybe when he graduated from Panacea Academy he would either attend university in Japan, or- if possible, go to Japan next year or in his Junior year on a student exchange student. Whatever the way things went, knowing at least some Japanese would be wise. Or indeed be appreciated by Japanese people when he got over there. For the moment- he just needed to get to class first...
"Do you know what room you're looking for?" he was asked by the older, taller boy. Mason had to rummage around in his jacket pocket to find the list of his classrooms that he would be in that semester. "Ummm- yeah..." he said as he browsed the piece of paper, ["I am in Room 108". That seemed a weird room number. Did that mean there were 108 rooms in the building. Didn't look like it from where he was standing. Well, now he and the blonde boy knew where he needed to go. That left one thing to do. "Thanks. I would never have found out where I needed to go without you. I'm new here and still kind of lost...still" he said, not shy about admitting he was in need of help. Sticking out his hand confidently he said, "I'm Mason..".
Thanks!

"Hi Mason," Sebastian said, taking the kid's hand and shaking it firmly. "I'm Sebastian. Room 108 is on the ground floor. Just keep an eye on the room numbers when you enter the building. You'll have no trouble finding it." He fought back laughing, but he wondered how bad he was back as a freshman. Probably even worse. But then, who didn't get lost when they were new? He looked the guy over and decided there was something about him. Maybe it was his intensity, but he thought the kid would go places. Anyway, he was certainly glad he was able to help him out. Hmm. Mason. Interesting first name, he thought. He wondered if it could have been his mother's maiden name. He had a friend who told him that his name was also his mother's maiden name. he guessed that made sense if they were going to take their husband's last name. They may as well try to keep their family alive somehow . Mason Sato

Mason Is Lost. Just Like Most
First Thread | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | So...Mason's savour was called Sebastian. Instantly Mason thought of a crab by that name in The Little Mermaid- the Disney version, not the recent version. This clearly was not a crab. So he didn't make a comment- still, it was a pretty cool name. One fit for a nobleman one might say- which this had been like to Mason. The little Freshman's hand shake was firm and confident. There was strength in his hand grip- unusual for a kid Mason's size. It had to be. In his chosen sport he need a good handgrip to keep hold of his opponent, when he pushed, pulled or lifted him. It wasn't his intention to squeeze Sebastian's hand too hard- that would be unfriendly.
"Nice to meet you Sebastian" he said looking him directly in the eyes. Mason had been taught to look someone in the eyes when you shook their hand. Some might say it was rude- aggressive even. But he had been taught it showed confidence, sincerity and integrity. It didn't last long and he took his hand back from Sebastian and freed his from his grip. He glanced over at the building that was indicated to him by Sebastian. "Oh. Cool..." he nodded. That was good to know- on the ground floor and the room numbers were indicated when he entered the building. Maybe he would find getting around the campus much easier now, since he knew what to look for when he was looking for a particular room. "Thanks" he beamed- a change from his until now serious expression. When he smiled, his eyes actually seemed to shine and light up his face. "I'd never know that and be still lost if you haven't come along" he said.
There was something about Mason that people could detect about him. Intensity. Mason had become an intensely driven kid over the past few years, possessing his own little list of short and long term goals he wanted to achieve. For today- it was to get to class and NOT get into any trouble. It was his intense personality that drove him on to achieve his life goals that meant so much to him. As an athlete it meant developing the self-discipline to be the success he was in his chosen sport. It wasn't easy- when other kids he knew were watching TV or playing on their X-Box, he was working out. It overlapped to the way he competed. When the referee blew his whistle at the start of a wrestling match, Mason exploded into action to dominate and put pressure on his opponent before they could react.
Thanks!

Sebastian looked at the time and was afraid the boy was late for his class. He didn't want to come off as a complete jerk. He had already did that and didn't need to do it again all in the same day. "It's nice to meet you, Mason." Sebastian asked. " What class are you going to?" Anyway, Sebastian was glad he could help the kid find the building he was looking for. They should have signs in front of the buildings as well as on them. Not everybody looked at the building to see what building they were. The campus was very large. They should make it easier to find your away around it, Sebastian thought. Again, he remembered he had a devil of a time trying to find his classrooms. Even in his third week. He hoped Mason had an easier time finding it for his next class. Mason Sato
