Many often think her attire is a reflection of her personality, and you'd only be half correct. While Addy is a quiet person, keeping to herself and preferring to get her studies done before she does anything "fun," she is also a kind and loving person, if you don't mind making the effort to get to know her. Addy is introverted but is not afraid to compliment a stranger if she is compelled to. Many mistake her quietness and stoicism for being stuck up (especially since she comes from wealth) and mean. In her earlier years, she even was rumored to be a bully, but with age, those rumors died down and she is at least respected among her peers for being the opposite of a bully. Addison is calm, collected, and gracious but also private, quiet and marches to the beat of her own drum.

Addison Hayes has had a fairly mundane life. Her father and mother met, supposedly fell in love, and had a child. But that child was not Addison. It was her older brother, whom was planned and prepared for. Addison was not. She came as a surprise to the small and growing family, but they at least knew that they wanted another child eventually. Addy just came earlier than expected. Her father worked a lot, being the breadwinner for the family, and her mother became a stay at home provider after Addison was born. Being so close in age, Addison and her brother were also close in their bond, with the typical growing pains causing a bit of tension here and there.
[break][break]But when Addison was 10, her comfortable little life grew rocky. Her parents separated, but did not divorce officially. They knew it would be incredibly difficult for the children, so they were at least civil with each other but remained apart. Addison saw her father less and less as the years went on. Her mother, wanting nothing more than her children to be happy, left Addison and her brother to their own devices, and never really disciplined them or told them "no." Addison used the opportunity to get more into her hobbies. Her brother used the opportunity to act out and cause trouble, despite Addison's pleas to stop. She knew her mother was depressed, and her brother was not helping. But before she could really make an impact or do anything to help, she was sent away to Panacea Academy, and she could... forget for a while.
[break][break]Her freshman year was not terribly difficult class-wise, but she did find it difficult to make friends in her first year. Addison had always grown up with nurturing parents, parents who did not shame her or push her away from what she liked. Already at this age, she knew what she liked and didn't like, even if her aesthetic was different from most girls. Addy enjoyed the dark and macabre, was quiet and didn't smile a whole lot, so a lot of her peers either bullied her directly, or started rumors about her. Addy paid them no mind, and continued to be her authentic self, and would make friends who liked her for who she was. School wasn't so bad, after all.
[break][break]When she returned home for the summer, Addison's life was shaken. Her brother had dropped out of school and was becoming more and more delinquent. Most of her summer was spent trying to wrangle him back from his escapades, getting into trouble and dealing with some unsavory "friends." Addison's mother was at her wits end, and ended up kicking him out. Addison didn't know entirely where he was staying, but she hoped he would return to school with her when the summer was over.
[break][break]Sophomore year was a bit nicer to Addison in terms of her peers and friends. It seemed everyone was too focused on "fitting in" for their first year, but the return to sophomore year seemed a lot more relaxed. Or maybe she just didn't pay attention to the attention-seekers. Addy still knew who she was, and liked what she liked, and would make friends regardless. The teachers began to treat her a bit differently, however, as unbeknownst to her at the time, her father had donated a large sum of money to the school as an apology for her brother. His trouble-making still endured, and he was on the verge of getting kicked out from school as well. Things quieted down in the middle of the school year, and seemed to go okay...
[break][break]The break between her sophomore and junior year was quiet, and it admittedly made her nervous. Her brother, while being allowed back home, had not really stayed for any length of time. Instead, he couch surfed with friends and traveled around. It made Addison sad to not have her brother around, but she supposed he had to figure things out for himself, and she didn't want to get in the way of their already cracking relationship.
[break][break]Junior year arrived swiftly and she welcomed it. School seemed to be a bit of an escape from her home, even if she still had the chance to run into her brother. She hopes to take this year in stride.
