[attr="class","ltexts"] she could hear the steady beating of her own heart. the way it shouted and screamed at her, 'don't do it' and 'jump in there if you so wish.' she could only blame the memories all burned into her memory. her hands began to sweat at the mere sound of rushing water. her stomach lurched, the acid in her stomach simply caused her throat to tighten up. finley was much closer than she had ever anticipated. she didn't like it. her heart raced again. her hand reached her mouth, a horrible attempt to keep all contents inside of her mouth. a horrible and sour taste. the acid in her stomach stung in her throat as she swallowed the content of breakfast. this ire of consciousness, could only make matters worse and it had. she stared at bluebell lake, the pristine and beautiful waters would make anyone inspired. and yet, she felt dread.her therapist told her to confront everything, a little at a time. to take her moment and be properly engaged with another person to at least give her comfort. but, she dared not ask for help -- as asking for help also eluded to her delusion of weakness. finley's face turned pale, and her heart could not stop. why? why did it hurt? she told herself it would be okay. the sound of students were close by, she should have remained calm and yet she grew weary. no more. she should run. and here she stayed. the student closed her eyes, a futile attempt to calm down. [attr="class","ltexts"] the students all passed her, and she remained where she was, sitting down and covering her mouth as much as she could as she was hunched over on the chair. to those passing by, it was simply a student who was lost in thought – perhaps in awe of the scenery in front of them. but that was far from it. finley watched the waters as they calmly seemed to tell her to relax, and yet, all she felt was the dread building up in the back of her mind.
memories flooded her, bombarding her with the useless voices that reached out to choke her. finley could barely breathe.
“finley, finley my dear where’s your dad?” “he can’t be dead!” “finley what have you done?!”
it hurt. it hurt so badly. the rain poured that day. it poured so hard, everyone flooded to the farm to find the missing knight. i stood there and watched. her heart hurt again. it squeezed so tightly, she could barely breathe. finley stayed on the chair, her face buried in her hands.
“don’t go. i’m sorry.”
a young finley cried, she cried hard as she held onto the leg of her uncle. the water was rougher, as if it was angry at finley for disturbing the peace. the sound of her mother wailing. it hurt her. but not as much as her father who disappeared under the rapid waters.
