Sebastian was in a melancholy state. Two places always perked him up. One was the theatre, which he couldn't go to because that was where IT happened that is making him sad. So he went to the other place: the field where the horses just trotted or galloped around seemingly aimlessly. As far as Sebastian was concerned, horses were gorgeous animals. They were so much bigger than man and somehow, training Sebastian knew, they allowed man to ride on their backs, when really they could just throw them off anytime they wanted and stomp on them. The few times Sebastian rode a horse, he always made sure they knew they were the bosses. Even if the person giving him the riding lesson always said "let them know you're the boss." Yeah right, Sebastian always thought, thinking how easily the horse could rise up and make Sebastian fall off of it and then stomp his butt.
There weren't many horses in the field today though. Maybe they were too busy allowing students ride on them. Sebastian hoped they knew how lucky they were to allow the horses to do that and that they treated the horses well. He reached down and tore out some leaves of grass. He put out his hand, wondering if a horse would come up and eat it. There were three horses so far. One was a beautiful chestnut color. It was bigger than the other horses and possibly the dominant one. He kinda bullied the other horses. Sebastian instantly disliked him. But then he remembered the incident inthe theatre the other day which brought him here, sulking. Now you understand how he felt, Sebastian thought to himself.
There was a white horse, the second biggest or the second smallest, however you want to put it. And then there was a gorgeous horse that was mostly brown with some white spots and patches all over it. it was beautiful. That was the one who was curious what the strange human was trying to give them and came over. Sebastian watched walk over and as soon as he was close enough, he put his hand holding the grass under his mouth. The horse took the grass, scaring Sebastian a little that he might bite him hopefully accidentally. As soon as the horse had eaten the grass, his head came up again, looking for more. And now Sebastian's day was pretty well cast. He was going to feed the horses grass all day long. He reached down and tore up some more grass and held it out to the horse again. Again, the horse took it in his mouth. As the horse chewed it, Sebastian started to pet it.
Sebastian stroked the horse's powerful body. The other horses had seen what was going on from afar and came over for a closer look. Unfortunately, being human, Sebastian only had two hands. He wasn't able to pet all of the horses at once. This was one of those times Sebastian wished he was an octopus. But he tired his best, tearing out grass and feeding it to the horses. And petting them.
"Hey you!" He heard a voice. What did he do? He was just feeding the horses grass. He looked up and saw somebody approaching him.
