Brandishing an aura of confidence, Mads comes across well-put together in uniform and off-campus hour attire. Sharp features and orderly curls allude to a casual, yet firm stance. Upon closer inspection, however, the trained eye can pinpoint the ruffled feathers underneath the surface. His laid-back nature typically lends to subtle “messy” corners—bedhead curls that have a mind of their own, a string on a shirt cuff, pants that are a touch short. He is the type that makes an unflattering pattern on the majority of people work.
✱ leather jock — A well worn leather jacket is a favorite, commonplace pick of Mads—an heirloom from his great uncle—that adjusts his casual attire to vibe between “rocker” and “jock”. Underneath the leather, an undershirt in either crewneck or v-neck style, and simple design yet vibrant colors. Overtop the undershirt hangs a corded necklace with a golden, thin, rectangle pendant. Dark denim jeans and converse shoes finish this look.
[break][break]✱ unusual classic — Fond of out-there patterns and bright splashes of colors in loosened yet fitted silken textures in an tucked open dress shirt, with a simple white v-neck underneath. Maddox wears these whenever he’s in a mood to impress. Complimented often by colored sunglasses coordinated by the colors in the attire. He wears high-waisted dress pants in khaki tones with dark brown or black belts typical.
[break][break]✱ dorm room — Wanting nothing more than to shuck the layers of the academy uniform, Mads typically lounges in his dorm room with just sweatpants. On occasions where he’s cold, he’ll add a hoodie. His sleepwear, however, can range to multiple layers: boxers, robe, slippers, bird’s nest bed hair.
[break][break]✱ piercings — Removed—or hidden—during class, Maddox has two notable piercings: a gold horseshoe septum ring, and his left lobe (black stud, or small, gold hoop usually).

✱ beauty marks — Mads has numerous beauty marks across his body. Most visibly: under his right eye in the corner nearest his nose; two on the right side of his upper neck on the front; the lower left side of his neck; right wrist; two on the inside of his middle finger.
[break][break]✱ snaggletooth — A prominent left canine.
[break][break]✱ double lids & long eyelashes
[break][break]✱ eyebrow scar — Diamond-like scar cutting through his left eyebrow.
[break][break]✱ dimples — They usually only show when smiling, and similar expressions that pull on the corners of his lips.

Maddox Eastwood makes himself known in every class he’s been a part of since the age of five in kindergarten—he’s the sleepy, lazy, near-obnoxiously loud presence that’s lingered throughout the years. Some might find that comforting, in the way he’d offer a smile when you catch his eyes, while others would prefer he tone down his insistent needling. He likes to be a part of the “know” and this created a Mads that integrates himself into various circles—whether he knows you, or not, he slides into conversations casually as can be, and adds into the choir of voices like he’s always meant to be there.
[break][break]His nonchalant, easygoing attitude makes it easy for him to approach even the toughest nuts to crack—anger bounces off him, reflected, as a grounded source of energy. While isn’t a magician with his words in high-strung situations, his rational nature makes it difficult for him to be riled by individuals seeking to push him away—or do harm, for that matter. He’s more likely to be concerned and edge a voice that invokes the imagery of a kicked puppy than he is to raise it in a full-blown fight. Yelling is reserved for the moments of fun with laughter booming down the halls of Panacea Academy—livening the atmosphere (and certainly with a warning from a disciplined teacher to follow, their battleworn sighs a signal of their evergoing headache). Mads seeks out the light in others and wants to flourish it into a bonfire; school is not just for academic pressure, but the social networking that comes with it.
[break][break]His whimsy comes with little true heat in the ways of rebellion against authority, however, for he’s swift enough to apologize and make even—Mads would never go out of the way to inflict trouble, he swears. The Eastwood boy is more likely to garnish the ire of a stern hand for sleeping well past the lunch bell into his next period due to the fact he’s found the perfect, sunny spot, than he is to stare down a teacher whilst covered in scraps from a brawl. Conflict is something he likes to actively avoid, but his confrontational ways could easily spark physical reaction from those he ends up getting under the skin of. He’d rather talk it out, and if it gets to that point, he knows when to back down (for the day).
[break][break]Such persistence is fueled by an inquisitive outlook—something about others that he finds interesting that he likes enough to make people his home. Despite his roaming through numerous circles, Mads finds a few that he makes his. Favorites that are picked for bizarre reason that Mads could only describe as instinct—or plainly that they’re fun, that he likes them—and that is enough for Maddox to gradually appear until before you know it, he’s always there. His affection is shown in automatic and small ways: your favorite drink left on your desk on a day that’s been rough, a needy shoulder to lounge on, or a spontaneous adventure away from the hardship of an upcoming exam that’s causing gray hair at the age of fifteen. Whatever tiny gesture it may be, Mads is keen to sweep it under the rug as if it were a) no big deal, and b) for himself.
[break][break]In each person he travels between, Mads leaves a part of him, however. His attachment to people he cares for is a strong bond that is unbroken by obstacles that affect it on the surface—where frayed the string can become, Mads will always have a soft spot for them. Steadfast is he to stand a mountain alongside a person that needs it most. Mads, however, suffers abandonment issues due to his clingy nature. He’s found it best to keep his own emotions underwraps in efforts to quell the possessive streak in him; part of why he roams, part of why he never sticks around just one person. It is an irrational part of him, in an otherwise rational world that has rocked his boat, and has yet to stabilize.
[break][break]It’s why romance seems fun with those rose-colored glasses, and commitment terrifies him all the same.
[break][break]Tl;dr: That guy in class everyone knows, who likes to have fun and can be annoyingly meddlesome, but also runs at the first sign of labels and Commitment™.

[break][break]✱ gaming — Once more competitive in the gaming community than he is now, Mads is a casual gamer on the side that enjoys uncovering new content and seeks out engaging storylines. His current “main game” is a hit fantasy MMORPG called “Free” (not unlike our FFXIV ).
[break]✱ boxing — A hobby once influenced by his great uncle, boxing is saved for the early mornings and late nights—like a secret he keeps tucked in his pocket. While he doesn’t go out of the way to hide it, he also doesn’t divulge it casually, either.
[break][break]✱ cello — Mads began playing the cello at the age of six. It brings forth a focused, fiery passion; enchanted by the soft notes of his paired partner, and unlike his laid-back nature.

In addition to a robust and immersive storyline and a thriving PVP community, Free boasts AI-driven NPC interactions and a relationship/reputation system that adds even further nuance and depth to the game. You can put thousands of hours into Free and still never see everything. (description written by snowpuff, used with permission — Kitt Combs)

The second born of Cameron Eastwood and Elowen Braveheart, the intermingling of two staunch families left its mark when his parents revealed their whirlwind romance. An on-again-off-again love story since their days in Panacea Academy, it was filled with enough drama to be a hit novel series and then some—including disapproving families on both sides. Thankfully their story ends with their partnership and children unlike that of Romeo and Juilet.
[break][break]As any middle kid of the family, Mads sat firmly in the “too disciplined to be babied, but obviously envied by the third-parent eldest” category. Though his home life left much wanting, it also wasn't the worst of occurrences. Two parents that worked full-time, that argued over little things, an older sibling that played equal parts protector-and-jealous-instigator, and a younger one that could-do-no-wrong in the eyes of their parents. They loved him, and he loved them despite their flaws.
[break][break]Mads sought escape in spending less time in the house, and when he was in there, he lived in his imagination. Such imagination led him to his notable facial scarring. Mads, insisting that his dinosaurs-riding-cars needed to be up on the kitchen counter, decided to climb up to make it happen by his lonesome at the age of four. Tiny hands grasping a shelf that’s seen better days unbeknownst to his busy, exhausted parents, led to a collapse that ended up marking Maddox permanently. Mads thinks it’s cool, however, and insists that it was from a bear attack when they went camping one summer (he won, btw).
[break][break]That being said, this incident lit the fire under his parents ass and led to his frequent babysitting by his grandparents on the Eastwood side. His fascination with his great uncle, Earl, started then. Uncle Earl was, in all sense of the world, the “cool uncle”. He’d take Mads on trips into town for ice cream and nerf gun fights in the park. He’d also tell him stories about alleyways and crime, and to this day, Mads isn’t certain if he was telling tales of his youth or if Earl was making them up from a movie he’d seen.
[break][break]Regardless, Uncle Earl was his favorite person.
[break][break]He’s who convinced him to get into music; Mads had a difficult time talking about emotions, especially to his parents—Earl taught him that they could be shown through his music, released in a healthy way. Mads found the cello. His passion started at the age of six thanks to Uncle Earl’s guiding hand. He took to competitions whenever available, aided in trips set up by his grandparents on his Braveheart side who took an interest in Maddox after the discovery of his musical tastes. His parents, too, showed on occasion when their busy work schedule allowed.
[break][break]His new connection to his maternal grandparents allowed for a new bond to form in that of horses. The Bravehearts were known as typical rich folks that partook in your fanciful hobbies: horses, golf, social gatherings, music, ballroom dancing and the like. Some of the stuffiness of it didn’t appeal to Mads, but the attention did. In the end, the connection fostered a series of horses that would be dubbed under the Bravewood name (a combination of Braveheart and Eastwood, to show approval of his parents’ relationship and an olive branch). One was saved for him to be his future partner: Ichy.
[break][break]It was the summer before high school when his bliss came crashing unexpectedly. Uncle Earl was ill, but the man hid the severity of his sickness—insisting that he would be better before anyone could blink an eye. He’d play his usual tricks, despite Mads already knowing the secret behind his “magic”. Mads would take to visiting the hospital often during this time period to spend it with him, and Uncle Earl would encourage him to spend it instead, with his friends. It was when Mads chose to listen to him, that Uncle Earl passed peacefully alone in his hospital bed… and Mads? Mads was devastated.
[break][break]A boy that’d had his favorite person ripped away from him.
[break][break]He learned that death came for everyone. There was no stopping it, no matter how much he dreamt that it was a figment of his imagination. Uncle Earl was gone, and he’d left him his favorite jacket, his necklace, and numerous other belongs.
[break][break]That summer went by in a blur. Before he knew it, Mads was in Panacea Academy, a freshman, like his older sibling, Harper, before him.
