A give and give sounds a lot nicer, me thinks.

◣◆◢ | 6:32 PM, the third floor hallway of the education building.
It was a tragic, heart-wrenching thing. To think the hallowed halls of this fine academy would be stained by the scene of a crime.
Fingers tightened their grip on a nonexistent cigarette, an invisible smoke dancing through the air as he gazed over the scene with a heavy sigh, his voice low and soaked in melancholy. His other hand gripped the tip of his deerstalker, pulling its visor to cover his vision from the awful sight. 'How damn tragic it was,' he thought. To think someone would stoop this low and the world expects people to just carry on with their day.
The 'problem box' had disappeared. Stolen.
The student council president was going on about his usual playful dramatics as he stood before the spot where one of the student council's 'problem boxes' was typically located. Sans the box itself, of course, now replaced by nothing but a chalk outline. A hollow memory of a cherished(?) tool of the council. One which he drew and would get nagged at by the janitor later.
For added flair, he had even wasted more time by going over to the drama club's prop room to grab some police tape to put a barrier around the spot.
Today's fascination for King Grayson: The 'Mystery of the Departed Problem Box!'
While he fully intended to get that box back he wasn't against the idea of having it be gone for a while for him to play around with. After all, the box had been emptied less than an hour ago already, and the one or two potential slips that may have found their way into it before getting stolen were behind a lock.
So there was no harm in him having fun with this!
And if he were to solve a mystery, he of course needed to be wearing the deerstalker -thank you drama club- as well as a partner to call his Watson.
Anyone would do. Anyone at all. The first poor, poor student that would just so happen to enter the hallway would be targeted by this rapscallion and get forced recruited into helping him solve this mystery.
Because that would make it more fun.

It had been a long day, with practice added onto that, so Xavier was more than ready to head back to his dormitory and start on his homework. He had stopped by the Educational Building to pick up some things from his locker that he would need for the long night ahead when he heard something from the corridor off to his side. Xavier closed his locker and stared in that direction.[break][break]
Now, he wasn't in a position of authority so it wasn't his responsibility to do anything about troublemakers but... Morally, it felt wrong to ignore if something was happening, and he could have done something to steer someone in the right direction instead.[break][break]
With that internal debate happening, Xavier walked in the direction of the commotion and poked his head around the corner into the next corridor. Well, if it was trouble bigger than he could deal with, it wouldn't be a good idea to be spotted and dragged into it.[break][break]
That--[break][break]
That was the student council president. Was he pretending to smoke...? Xavier scanned the scene before himself and frowned in confusion when he spotted the police tape. What exactly had happened here? Xavier leaned a bit further so he could try and see more. Hm, it didn't seem like something he wanted to be involved with, so perhaps it would be best for him to slip away quietly before he got noticed.[break][break]
Which would have been his plan if he hadn't knocked over a broom leaning against the wall. Clearly it had been left there by a cleaner or the janitor, and it landed on the floor with a loud clatter. His reflexes hadn't been enough to save him in this situation, and now he looked at the broom dumbly.[break][break]
How could it have given him away like this? Why would it betray him? He had done nothing wrong and had only been good in this life.[break][break]
Why was life so unfair.[break][break]
"Brilliant." Xavier sighed, still staring at the broom and hoping against hope that the student council president might have (somehow) not heard what had happened.
[break][break] [attr="class","xavtag"] King Grayson, hope you don't mind this weirdo dropping by ^^

◣◆◢ | Nobody else was around and any other student in the building would have been off doing their club activities. Ergo, the hallway was empty at the moment, making it painfully easy to notice and hear anything out of the ordinary.
Meaning, the moment Xavier had been betrayed by the broom the young man's fate was sealed.
The student council president-turned-detective froze in place as the clanking of the broom against the fine floor of the hallway reached him, echoing through the entire length of it. Xavier could swear he saw King's ear twitch in response even from his hiding spot.
"Ah, there you are," the young man said in the most malicious and threatening manner he could as he craned his head back to look past his shoulder to exactly where Xavier was standing. A piercing pair of browns stared into the innocent bystander as though he were prey. His lips were curled into the widest grin he could muster, which soon parted open for a raspy and slow song of the name of his partner-to-be. "Waaaaatsooooon~."
And as he said that, his body twisted swiftly to face his Watson as well and made a mad dash toward him. "C'mere, Watson!" God, he was fast, closing a massive stretch of the hallway in the time it took Xavier to even react to the horror show before him.

What Xavier knew of their president, he knew there was no getting away from King once he got an idea into his head. He would just have to accept that this was his fate now, to be roped into something that he didn't want a part in. [break][break]
His brows came together in confusion and Xavier pointed to himself, "My name is Xavier Lévesque..." If only Xavier had spent less time skating and more time paying attention to the classics, he would have realised the reference that King was making. Sadly, he only paid attention to books if they were something to be studied for class, and Sherlock hadn't been one of them (yet).[break][break]
"What do you require my assistance for?" Christ, he was fast. Freakishly so. There was no chance for Xavier, even with his refined reflexes from dancing and skating, had a chance to escape. Not that he could -- not now that he had been spotted. It would have been rude for a Lévesque to abandon someone who requested their help.[break][break]
He could only hope this wouldn't take too long, "I thought I saw some police tape, did something happen?"[break][break]
Keeping King on track was his best chance at escaping as soon as was deemed socially acceptable. Xavier just had to endure this until then, bidding his time for the right moment to make a well-timed exit from this scene.
[break][break] [attr="class","zenxtag"] sorry for the delay in replying! c': king is so funny lmao

◣◆◢ | With his assistance for this dastardly case acquired, the poor sap having made a feeble attempt at running away, King was ready to take on this mystery head on. Though clearly, his Watson needed to learn to play along a bit more. He'll get there eventually, surely.
"Both excellent questions, Watson. While I explain the case, put these on," the young man said with a pleased smile, pulling out a fake mustache and a rather dapper bowler cat. Once more, thank you drama club for these handy items that allowed King to get the image he sought for this whim of his.
Forcing the items on the poor bystander-turned-assistant, King turned away from him for dramatic effect. Cue the music. He took a hearty huff off of his invisible pipe, blowing equally difficult-to-see smoke out of his lungs. "A crime most foul has happened today. Theft." Dramatic pause. "One of the student council's Problem Boxes™-" Did he need to say 'tee-em' out loud? Yes, yes he did. "-has been stolen today. Its location is right where you saw the police tapes. I took matters into my own hands to prevent the crime scene from being further trampled on by bystanders who don't know better."
"Come, Watson! Let us see what we can gleam off of the crime scene," he urged Xavier to follow as he rushed on forward with conviction to his step. He strode on over to the scene of the 'crime' while waiting for his assistant to catch up. He continued to hold his non-existent pipe.
Finally, once Xavier would arrive, he'd speak up, "I personally saw the box last roughly fifty minutes ago, as I emptied it of its contents. And fifteen minutes ago while I walked through here, I saw it gone, so the culprit performed their dastardly deed within that thirty-five minute window. A crime of opportunity, or a pre-meditated scheme?" Of course, what didn't need to be said was that it took fifteen minutes for King to go grab the police tape and the Sherlock Holmes-themed items for the sake of the bit, wasting valuable time.
The area contained inside of the tape barrier had some points of interest. Against the wall there was a heavy pedestal with a flat square on top of it, holes in each of its corners. The holes were for screws that served to hold the box in its place, yet no sight of the box or even the screws. One corner had faint smears of red on it.
At the pedestal's base, the otherwise pristine hallway floor had some specs of dust in it. Dust that glittered faintly, the specks of glitter dust being nigh invisible if it weren't for the light reflected off of them.
These were things King had already made note of before, but he wished to see what his assistant would make note of. "Tell me, Watson, what do you see? Anything catch your eye in the scene?" He chuckled, knowingly.
