Naturally blonde, but dyed a very pale arctic blue. Valerie’s hair is very short and usually quite messy, but clearly distinct from bedhead. She does comb her hair every morning, but in haste. Others often see it as tomboyish, though that’s never been something she’s ever aimed for. However, this general impression is easily nullified by her hairband.

Valerie’s eyes are big, round, and hued with a deep and solid umber brown. She tends to look rather optimistic, especially immediately before, during, or after eating.

Valerie’s quite tall for her age, standing at 5’7”, discounting the extra little bit of height her bow adds.

In a word, Valerie is best described as lean. While she does boast some nimbleness and upper body strength, these features have translated poorly into her muscle mass, likely due to how often she indulges in sweets. At the very least she does make an effort to watch her weight.

Valerie’s sense of style is best described as “unicorn ice cream” or “birthday cake”. Outside of what the academy regulates for her, Valerie often wears simple dresses adorned with way more bows than she knows what to do with. Her wardrobe is very colourful, but half of it is white with varying shades of pink as the accents, and vice versa. She usually wears tights as well, or at least safety shorts that usually come in light grey. Her shoes of choice are sneakers (with lights on them), though she’s always wearing fuzzy slippers in the dorms.

- INATTENTIVE: Valerie’s attention span has never been the best, and the girl gets very easily lost in her own tangential thoughts. She has a certain sense of wanderlust that often has her skimming over important and relevant information especially when reading. Holding a serious conversation with her is a challenge, much to the chagrin of many of her teachers. She is also very easily distracted by sweets, and boys.
- LOUD: Valerie is more of a yapper than she is a listener. She gossips a lot and is awful at any form of discretion. She’s hard to trust with secrets. Aside from this, she also seems to have a need to stand out through sheer flamboyance, and gets upset when starved of attention. She feels a huge need to be different to everyone else.
- HASTY: Valerie’s motor functions seem to be faster than her brain, so she has a habit of talking too fast and tripping over her own words, especially when she’s excited. She tends to do mundane chores as quickly as possible, leading to her appearance and her part of her dorm room both looking dishevelled and kinda gross. She’s an impulsive individual in general, and can absolutely not be trusted with money. She will buy the first cute thing she sees, and not even try to haggle the price.
- IMMATURE: Even when she can put sentences together, Valerie doesn’t always feel like making sense. This is especially true if she thinks she can get a laugh out of her train of thought, though it’s not particularly helpful if she needs to give a straight answer. While her goofiness has its charm, it can easily get infuriating.
- COWARDLY: While nobody can say Valerie’s lacking in confidence, she does shy away particularly from confrontation. Her usual response to hostility is to ignore the problem and hope it fizzles away over time, rather than actively make amends. She is also afraid of the dentist and will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to make a visit.
- APATHETIC: While she’s far from nihilistic, Valerie doesn’t usually emotionally connect with others very well. She’ll try to cheer people up, sure, but tends to have trouble deciphering the root of the problem. The best she can do is assault it with generic positivity, or memes, and hope it works.
- WHIMSICAL: Valerie is very attracted to fun; she goes on all the big roller-coasters, and will agree to almost any party invitation she gets. In general she’s quite bubbly, spunky and spontaneous. She raises her hand to answer questions in class. Valerie is the extrovert friend who makes plans, but she is still considerate of her more introverted friends and will do her best to secure their comfort.
- WITTY: Valerie tells jokes, and has an aptitude for improvised comedy. While forming witty arguments is less within her comfort zone, she definitely has the capacity to make mental remarks that she’d rather not say out loud. In general she’s quite a creative thinker and, even if her attitude says otherwise, she’s pretty clever.
- SHAMELESS: Valerie has this certain boldness where she’ll say something attached to some social stigma and not even flinch while doing so. She won’t make offensive remarks, but she’ll totally admit to something embarrassing without even trying to deny her involvement. She has a lot of stage confidence as well, and feels quite at home with the spotlight on her.
- LAID-BACK: Valerie doesn’t believe in stress. She’s an expert at staying calm under pressure and dealing with any bad cards life throws her way. Sometimes she even makes bad decisions herself, but will always just roll with them rather than lamenting about could haves and what ifs. She can smile her way through almost anything.
- KIND: Valerie has a special place in her brain to stay on top of people’s birthdays, in particular. While she does commit random acts of kindness here and there, she puts the maximum effort into birthday gifts.
- AFFECTIONATE: Valerie very much enjoys romantic attention. She will admit that she herself doesn’t really understand how flirtation works, and that most of her attempts at it end in failure, but she’s very easy to flatter, and she is absolutely a hugger. She often daydreams of dating, and enjoys little romance subplots in any shows she watches and video games she plays. She can expect to be a very sweet and mushy girlfriend, even if she’s a little embarrassing to be around.

- ACROBATICS: Valerie has always been a gymnast, and does hope to one day become a professional trapeze artist. She was inspired by the circus as a kid, and as such has dabbled in a few other related hobbies like magic tricks, ventriloquism, and juggling. Acrobatics just seems to be the one she has the most aptitude for, and the one that motivates her the most to stay in shape. Back at home, she is the proud owner of a trampoline.
- MAGIC SHOWS: While she usually messes up the delivery of her own magic tricks, Valerie absolutely loves watching others perform, and these performances are the second most abundant videos in her Youtube search history, second only to music for studying. Whether it’s someone busking on the street for change, a professionally staged show, or even just a fellow student with a set of cards and a dream, Valerie always appreciates that sense of wonder they bring.
- ORIGAMI: Valerie has an origami of the day calendar she tries to fold every day, typically before classes if she’s awake enough. Her finished creations decorate her study desk in the dorm room.
- KARAOKE: Valerie loves to sing, even if she doesn’t really keep up with the music charts. Fortunately the karaoke places are kind enough to give her the lyrics. Likewise, she enjoys stage musicals a lot and would absolutely be down for going to see them over and over again, if she happens to have the money for it.
- DRAWING: Valerie doodles every once in a while. Her dexterity with a pencil is surprisingly low, so she tends to keep most of her art digital so she can undo her mistakes easily. She also very much appreciates drawings as gifts, whether the subject matter of the drawings has anything to do with her or not.
- POETRY: While she originally took this up to win over a boy when she was 8, Valerie has continued to write poetry to express herself. She’s very pedantic about rhyming, or at the very least some kind of syllabic structure in her poems. She keeps all her finished poems in a blog.
- GAMING: Valerie plays video games sometimes, but she’s a very casual and cosy gamer. She isn’t very good at them, but they help her relax. Farming sims are her favourite, especially if there’s a dating element involved. She absolutely will forget to water her crops though. She’s also quite a big fan of the Pokemon franchise, and she keeps a plush of Alcremie in her room.

- Despite her search for romantic endeavours, Valerie remains single, because she just happens to be remarkably bad at flirting.

- Valerie plays the trumpet in music class, but she’s still very much novice-level.
