| [attr="class","dibody"]"It's warmer outside today." Adara thought as she jogged to the sports complex, getting at least a good run in as she headed to meet Conor. She controlled her breathing, a light amount of sweat on her brow, but taking on a slower pace than they had been running yesterday. It was a nice warm up for the morning they had planned, although Adara was unsure how it would go. She'd been hit with a challenge while they were getting coffee yesterday morning, and in her post-race win haze she'd accepted without really thinking about it. Conor, truthfully, had goaded her into it, though it never really took much, and had her agree to try out basketball with him. He had said something that never failed to fire Adara up, that he was for sure going to beat her in it. Although most likely, he probably will beat her... solidly.
The girl had not so much as touched a basketball since probably middle school, and she recalled that she wasn't super talented at it. In fact, she was fine at the bouncy part, "what is it, dribbling?" However, shooting was a different story. Adara was wicked quick, but anything that involved balls or bats or hoops or whatever the heck else was so far out of her skill set it was laughable. Adara was kind of hoping he'd take it easy on her, but honestly that was a little unfair considering she'd never do the same. The girl slowed down as she came to the entrance of the sportsplex, a smile dancing across her lips as she opened the wide glass doors. She couldn't really remember the last time she had been here, but the complex itself was absolutely massive. "Man, wish the track team would get something like this..." Adara hummed at the thought as she walked through the halls. Looking up at the rock climbing wall with interest as she passed by and peeking into a few of the squash ball courts. So much to do, so many different things to try. She skidded to a stop in front of the basketball gymnasium, and Adara could hear the squeak of shoes behind the door. She let out a sigh as she realized Conor beat her to it. It's to be expected, at this point. Adara felt determined to give it her all, even if she wasn't very good. And who knows? Maybe miracles can happen. With a smile, Adara threw open the gym doors, watching as Conor effortlessly moved about the court. It was cool to see him in his element, and there was no mistaking that he was talented."Alright, let's get this show on the road!" Adara announced, setting her bag down at the edge of the court and letting out a small laugh. "How are you this fine morning, Conor?" |

Conor held the ball at his hip, as he took a deep breath, closing his eyes. Replying a last years game in his mind. A game that they could have won if he had made a three. Tied the game if he just made a two. But his release of the ball on the back step three was a little shaky and it hit off the rim. Conor opened his eyes seeing the whole scene in front of him. As he started to dribble the ball in front of him. He was slowly sinking into that zone where he didn't notice a single thing except the hoop.
Conor may be dumb, an air head, stupid, what ever. But his concentration for these types of moments was utterly astonishing. Without the mental training and practice there would be no way he could get into these types of zones. As he started to move from half court. The gym may be empty of people but in his mind he was replying that thirty seconds of failure trying to fix his mistakes. He wanted to be a player and a teammate that everyone could trust in those dying seconds. And that takes work. As he got just the three point line as he started to crouch down and mix in some crossover moves. As the door to the gym opened and Adara walked in just as he took his step back, jumped and released the ball. As it flew the air with a gentle back spin to it. Until it his the rim and bounced off. "Aaaaa damnit. I've only sunk 6 for 10 on this shot. I at least need to get 9 of 10." he said to himself when Adara announced her presence.
The aura around him that probably Adara could even feel being at the side of the court started to fade. As his frustration look slowly vanished to one of a smile. As he grabbed his shirt lifting it up and wiping the sweat from his face. Slightly exposing his toned stomach. As he walked over to her. "Good. Perfect day to get some practice in." he chuckled.
As he walked to the bench on the side of the court where she placed her bag. As he grabbed a bottled of water, taking a swig of it. Throwing it back on his own bag. If she did really look at him, she would notice how much sweat had already accumulated on his shirt, which means he has already been here for some time. Which is pretty accurate because this man has monstrous stamina. "So ready to venture into my domain." he gave a cheeky smile towards her seeing as he was already in hers before with running.

| [attr="class","dibody"]Adara caught the tail end of Conor's flash of frustration, but was happy to see him relax. "I think I get it..." she thought. Missing a shot like that must feel kind of similar to letting someone pass you by, and she hated that feeling herself. Although, it always motivated her to dig deeper and push hard to the end. She could tell he was pretty in the zone, so while it just looked like practice to her, Adara figured it was likely very different to him.
A wide smile spread across her face as he walked over, and she noted sweat dripping off of him. "Man.... you've been here for a while, hm?" she teased, letting out a small laugh. She started to dramatically stretch out her arms and legs. Both to be funny and to fire herself up. She was already pretty warmed up from her jog here, although she definitely hadn't been taking it as intensely as Conor's warm-up. "I'm ready! Well...uh, ready as I'll ever be."
Suddenly, Adara felt a little... nervous. It wasn't like her at all, but the thought of doing something so unfamiliar, and likely being absolutely terrible at it, had her on edge. "I'll be honest with you, I haven't played basketball since like, middle school, but hopefully I can put up some kind of fight." Another small laugh, though this one sounded a little more nervous than the one before. "What's the plan?" |

Conor let her start stretching as he just looked at her, letting his own body cool down for a moment. "Yea thought I'd get in actual practice.." he chuckled noting that she even said that she hasn't plaid since middle school. Not like Conor was expecting much when he offered to have her tag along next time he was in the gym as he bought both of their coffee's and what ever else Adara wanted before class a couple days ago.
Conor leaned over and grabbed one of the many balls that had been scattered across the gym from himself and his own practice. As he started to dribble it in place. "Well the plan was to just shoot around and have some fun." he shrugged. As the ball he was dribbling started to go in between his legs with every dribble. He wasn't trying to impress Conor just couldn't sit still. It was a curse really.
"But why don't you get used to dribbling and shooting?" he shrugged again not knowing what to do. His mind was drawing a blank from his imagery training. "But if you need help trying to shoot just let me know." he added as he started to walk on the court still dribbling the ball like it was nothing. As he walked up to the three point line. As he took a shot. The ball flew through the air before going into the hoop with a loud swoosh sound. As he got nothing but net.

A snort escaped from Adara's lips, and she finished up her stretches. "Well... at least you're not expecting too much," she said with a wink. "I'm here for the laughs, clearly." Another small jest, her smile wide. "Though... I don't know. I like to think I'm FULL of surprises." She felt herself relax a little bit, his laid-back attitude infectious. "Shooting around and having some fun..." Adara mused, "yeah, I think I can do that." She watched as he effortlessly dribbled the ball, sending it to and fro as if he was born to do it. The girl had to admit he looked pretty cool, his moves much smoother than anything she could possibly pull off. She respected the amount of practice he likely had to put into it.
Adara grabbed one of the stray basketballs off the ground, feeling it out as she bounced it around. It took her a few passes before she started to get the hang of it, imagining she was keeping the beat to one of her favorite songs. Though she couldn't sing for shit, at least she had a good sense of rhythm. "Okay... step one complete. Good start, didn't hit myself in the face- yet." She muttered to herself, looking up just as Conor effortlessly tossed the ball up and got it in the net. A perfect shot. "Nice!" She called out, starting to move around herself.
"I'll let you know if I need help..." the competitive edge was settling back into her voice, "hopefully I don't hit you with this thing in the meantime, hehe."
It took her a minute, but eventually she was able to at least get some speed in as she dribbled, miraculously able to keep the multi-tasking up while running around. This was more fun than she was expecting, and she had a wide grin spread on her face. She moved, going back and forth across the court, before turning around quickly.
She lined up her first shot, squinting at the hoop with a suddenly serious expression. "Okay, here goes nothing!" She tossed the ball, watching as it sailed upwards... and bounced off the backboard with a loud thunk.
Adara groaned, breaking into a laugh as she jogged to retrieve it. “Well... I guess I did say ‘nothing.’” She looked to Conor, basketball on her hip and one hand rubbing the back of her head. "I might need some help after all..." she admitted sheepishly.

Conor lightly jogged over to the same ball that was bouncing lightly on ground. As he hit it gently but firmly as it bounced right up into a easier dribbling position. He looked over at Adara and chuckled to himself as she at least got the basics down of dribbling. Plus she hasn't hit herself in the face yet so that was plus. As she went to shoot and her form and just about everything was so bad. He just had to sneak out a chuckle when the ball hit the rim and bounced away.
Conor looked over at her when she said she might needed help. "ya think?" He cheekily said with a chuckle. "I got ya." He responded quickly as he started to walk over to her every step the ball going in between his legs. Conor has played a lot of sports. But by far basketball is one of his best sports. He loves baseball, but his mind and body were truly built to play this game. He was not bad by any means at baseball. But if you watched him play both. You would just be able to tell he felt a lot more comfortable with basketball. As he got up to Adara he held his ball in front of her. "okay the easiest way to get a good shot is told it like this." He said as he put one hand in behind the ball and the other to the side.
With his fingers on the hand that was behind the ball gripping the black lines. "Then you want to bend your knees and put the ball just above your head." As he showed her with his own body. "Then as you straighten out your knees you want to start pushing the ball with this hand." As he raised the hand on the back of the ball. "as you push you let your other hand guide it. And just when you want to release throw your fingers down to give it that back spin." He said as he went through the motion to show her and releasing it just above his head to give show her the spin.
He watched as she performed it but the ball still went either too far or to one side. Or she just wasn't aiming right. He just kept laughing every time she missed. "Here." He said in between chuckles as he handed her a ball again. As he walked behind her. "Get into the stance." As she did, he moved her elbow up slightly so it was at the right angle. Then reached with both arms around her to adjust her hands on the ball. He wasn't much taller than her. But his hands were quite bigger than hers. So his hands wrapped around hers as he adjusted where her hands were on the ball. Half way through Conor definitely knew what he was doing and started to blush but he was already half way through at this point. As he finished adjusting her stance before letting her take a shot. His face beat red at this point.

Adara snorted at his cheeky response, a big grin tugging at her lips. She rolled her eyes with a dramatic flair, "yeah, yeah, okay," she laughed, not minding the ribbing. But as soon as Conor started instructing her, her demeanor shifted. She furrowed her brow in concentration, watching him closely. It wasn’t every day you got to learn from someone this talented, so she was determined to soak up whatever she could. His movements came so naturally to him, like a fish in water, and the girl found that to be pretty cool.
She clumsily tried to follow his instructions, and with each ball she missed she felt herself get a little frustrated. It just wasn't clicking for her, and she couldn't help but let out a huff each time she missed. "Gaaaah, you makes it look so easy..." she grumbled, but then let out a laugh, jogging after the last one she missed.
When Adara got back to center, Conor handed her another ball. She felt her face grow warm as he stepped behind her, and her body tensed up slightly, but she followed his instruction best she could. She felt her heart skip a beat as his hands covered hers, and she tried everything in her power to focus on the ball rather than how close he was. It was hard to ignore how awkwardly aware of his presence she was.
As he adjusted her elbows, Adara felt her face fully flush red, her ears burning. She forced a smile, fighting the urge to shuffle away or make some kind of joke to cut the tension. "Is this... uh, right?" she asked, though her voice came out a little higher than she intended. The girl could sense his embarrassment too, briefly catching a glimpse of his face when she asked if she was doing it right. Of course, that made her feel even more embarrassed.
When he finished adjusting her grip, Adara, her face bright red, took the shot. The ball flew through the air, and slowly swirled around the rim. Each circle made the girl wince, but it ended up going in regardless.
She jumped forward, fist pumping into the air. "Haha! Yes! I did it!" Adara turned to face him, a giant grin on her face. However, as she met his eyes, the girl's face turned bright red again, and she quickly turned away to run after the ball.

Oh boy, the idiot this man is sometimes is truly something. You know maybe it was because of his siblings that he was just so used to being in such close proximity to them that he didn't even think twice when starting out fixing her form. But half way through he realized. And at that point he was already committed. Plus she didn't even say anything. Like how does she not say anything in that situation. God Conor thought he was such an idiot for that.
As he watched the ball sail through the air, hitting the rim and swirling around before dropping through the net. He let out a small chuckle seeing her jump up. As he smiled at her enthusiasm. Reminded him when he would make a good shot. But then their eyes met and both of them flushed red. As she turned to run and grab another ball.
Conor just took a breath to himself. As he walked near her to grab another ball. Trying not to feel like his face was burning up. But it failed. He was still red like tomato. But that didn't stop him from being the cheeky bastard he is. As he picked up a ball next to her. "Now only if you can make 10 in a row." he chuckled as he quickly snagged the ball she was reaching for and darted away.
Trying to cut the awkwardness and go back to both of their silly ways. As he thought it wasn't like them. Seeing as they have been texting a bit about random things. And the awkwardness just didn't fit them. So Conor tried to be playful to break them out it. Chuckling the entire time like a little kid. "just don't tackle me again....or do up to you." he said between laughs. Still being a cheeky bastard? Or was he flirting now? He had no idea between the two but he thought it was fun none the less.

| [attr="class","dibody"]"Play it cool, play it cool, play it cool..." Adara repeated to herself, like a mantra. She was trying to convince herself it really wasn't that big of a deal. He was just fixing her form! Nothing to be weird about! "Right? Totally normal." What a normal thing to happen between friends!
Adara had fixed other peoples forms like that before. Why did it it have to be different Just because Conor was a boy? It shouldn't matter. The heat she felt in her cheeks didn't help her case, but she did her best to get it back together. This was fun! They were just fooling around. "Stop taking everything so seriously, for real, Adara." The thought passed through just as Conor spoke, and she initially jumped a bit before breaking into a large grin.
A small competitive fire reignited inside of her, and just like that, she felt normal again.
"10 in a row? Bet." She said, just as he snatched the ball from her. Adara let out a mock gasp, turning to face him with fake betrayal plastered over her face. "Wow... that's soo messed up dude." Her voice ended up betraying her, and she broke into a hearty laugh. She took off to chase after him, instead feinting to grab another ball off the ground. She dribbled it a few times across court before turning with a jump and trying to take a shot.
She got... a little ahead of herself.
The ball sailed through the air, before hitting Conor in the side of the head with a thunk. "Oh, shit," Adara rushed over, "oh my god, are you okay?" She held both her hands up to her mouth, her crimson eyes wide with concern. At least she didn't have a lot of power to her shots. Well played, Adara- the exact opposite of playing it cool.
"Well... I guess at least I didn't tackle you this time...." She said with a groan, leaning forward. She tried to let out a weak laugh. "I think... I'll get it next try?" |

Conor dribbled the ball around for a second before he looked back at the red haired girl. As she seemed to start laughing. Well at least his stupidness cut the tension which was a good thing. As he grabbed another ball. Adn dribbled it a bit as Conor walked near the hoop to most likely catch her air ball that was coming.
After all one lucky shot doesn't mean you can just magically start shooting with accuracy. As he started to dribble the ball in his hands. As he looked down for a moment to kick some other balls out of the wall. When all of a sudden an impact at the side of his head. As he just took a step to catch his balance.
As she ran over to him to see if he was fine as he just kept looking down at the floor. As he just took a breath. "HOW" was all he yelled with a laugh. "Like how do you end up causing me pain every time we hang out." as he just looked at her as he just couldn't stop laughing.
"No you didn't. But maybe I should tackle you. Then bonk you on the head for some payback?" he paused as he looked at her with a very creepy smile. "I think that sounds more like a plan." he said as he took a step forward, closer to her. As he started to crack his knuckles the closer he got.

| [attr="class","dibody"]For what felt like the hundredth time that morning, Adara's face flushed red. She fought the heat creeping up the back of her neck, but was able to laugh with Conor regardless. "Man, I'm really making a fool of myself today." She thought to herself, heart pounding in her ears. This time it was out of pure embarrassment. "Hey, it's not on purpose!" She said with a laugh, "I'm not trying to hurt you I promise..."
When Conor fixed his gaze on her she froze, like a rabbit freshly spotted by a wolf. The look on his face... he definitely was up to no good.
Immediately after Conor laid out his plan, the girl let out a squawk of fear. She quickly scurried away. "Wait, Conor, we can talk about this, ok?" She was laughing in-between words, despite the semi-real fear creeping into her voice. Adara held her hands out in front of her, backing up. "I didn't meaaan it..."
With each crack of his knuckles, the girl took a step back. Internally, she was trying to gauge how serious he was, especially because she knew how much he liked to joke around. To Adara? It felt pretty serious, but she couldn't help laughing regardless. The situation was a little absurd, how does one girl accidentally hurt a guy twice in as many days? It was almost impressive.
"Pleaasee, cut me some slack, hm?" Adara said with a smile, pressing both of her hands together in front of her face. "I'll try to be more careful..." The girl paused, letting out a small hum with a sharkish grin on her face. "Hmm. well, probably." |

Loosing my legs is the only way I'll stop playing

Conor kept taking steps closer, as she kept taking steps back. As he just stared at her so seriously before he just couldn't hold it in anymore and just bursted out laughing so hard. "Oh my god you should see the look on your face. You were so afraid." he kept laughing before picking up another ball and tossing it to her.
As he started to bounce it. "Trust me, I've had a lot worse. I mean the tackle the other day hurt but not as much as someone sliding into your leg at home plate" he chuckled some more. As he just looked at her as the ball started to pass in between his legs with each bounce.
"Man if this is how you act when someone is teasing you. You should just leave now cause I will now tease the hell out of just for those reactions alone. Plus you being a clutz gives me the so much gasoline to pour on the fire." he laughed before taking the ball and shooting it. As it soared through the air and caught nothing but net. As the bounces of the ball echoed through the gym. As Conor liked to tease especially people close to him. Maybe it came from him being the middle sibling and always seeking attention. So now he just acts like a clown. But there was something that reminded him of his younger siblings, maybe it was just the innocence she has, or being super bad at somethings that he could make fun of. Who knows.

[attr="class","dibody"]Adara’s shoulders relaxed as Conor started laughing, and soon enough, she was cracking up too. A loud series of snorts and guffaws burst out of her—she had to cover her mouth to muffle the sound. She caught the ball as Conor tossed it her way, dribbling and shifting back and forth with a grin. "I wasn’t scared! Just, uh—" The girl paused, struggling to put it into words. "I was trying to make you think I was afraid… for the bit, y’know?" Adara laughed, a smirk stretching across her face. She’d do anything for the bit, obviously. No way she was actually scared. That’d be ridiculous. "Ha! Wild."Who was she kidding? She was definitely scared… but in like, a fun way at least.
The girl breathed a sigh of relief when he said that he'd had worse, nodding along. "Yeah I can't imagine that feeling good, ouch. I'm glad any damage I can do isn't as bad as that kind of stuff." She chuckled, turning her head to take a shot again. This time Adara didn't try to do anything fancy, just like the way Conor had shown her. The ball went up, hit the backboard, but still went in. "Yess!" She hissed, fist-pumping again.
As Conor spoke, Adara felt her face grow warm again, but laughed it off instead. Normally she was the one teasing other people, so being in the hot seat for once was new. "Well, you know, it's fun to play it up!"
When Conor called her klutzy, she couldn't help but feel a rush of indignation. Adara's head whipped back over to look at him, an amused expression on her face. "Hey! I'm not a klutz, normally at least! I'll have you know I'm incredibly coordinated. For whatever reason you just seem to be around at the wrong time." She said cheekily, offering another small snort. |

He watched as she shot the ball as it hit the backboard and went in. "lucky shot." he nodded like a pleased parent teaching their kids something for the first time but still gotta knock em down a peg first before giving them praise.
As he just nodded along to the rest and very sarcastically too especially the bit of trying to play up that she was scared. But Conor didn't say anything, just letting her have that. But when she snapped around and say she isnt a klutz but its very coordinated. He busted out laughing again.
"You? come on?" He laughed as he walked around her dribbling a ball he picked up on the way. "First you tackle me. Almost spill the coffee I got you....ON ME, then hit the back of my head with ball." he started to laugh. "I mean I may be good looking but you don't need to do all that for my attention..." he paused for a second. "baaah Im just fucking with you." he said with a burst of laughter. "But really you coordinated, you funny." he lastly said with a chuckle as he finally stopped on a dime and took a shot while still looking at her. As all that was heard was net from the ball going through it.

| [attr="class","dibody"]Adara puffed out her cheeks at Conor's "lucky shot" comment, although she knew he was just teasing. Still, she felt like she was starting to get it. Or, at the very least, if she stopped in her tracks and slowed down, she could avoid hitting him again. "That’s kind of a win in its own way, right?" The thought lingered in her head as she stepped forward to take another shot, this one missing it's mark. It bounced off the rim with a thud, and Adara sighed.
She snorted as Conor started messing with her, shaking her head playfully. “Hey! I’ll have you know I think the coffee was your fault… somehow.” She faltered, struggling to find a real reason, but she kept at it. “I’ll only take responsibility for the basketball to the head. I feel like I can make a case for the tackle being, uh… also your fault, somehow.”
She couldn’t help but laugh at her weak excuses, hugging a basketball to her chest. “Actually, scratch that. I think we could share responsibility for that one!” May as well make an outlandish claim sound a little more reasonable, Adara was for sure the one to blame there.
Adara's face flushed a little when he mentioned doing it to get his attention, but she continued to laugh anyways. While she certainly wasn't after his attention, he wasn't wrong about being good-looking. The thought made her painfully aware of their encounter earlier, and she had to shove it down to keep it together. Plus, if she showed him that she got flustered again he for sure wouldn't let it go. She had her honor to defend after all.
"Listen, you don't become one of the top sprinters in the province being uncoordinated! I think it might just be you." Adara watched as the ball sailed through the air, a satisfied click of her tongue escaping as it swished neatly into the hoop. "Nice."
