At first, interacting with him easy. Almost too easy. He moves like water in conversations and tries accommodating the other party, bending and twisting himself as much as necessary in the process. This means a surface-level friendship is guaranteed if that's what you're looking for. Mika will happily greet you in the hallways, include you in conversations, or offer to get you snacks from time to time. Just don't expect anything more than that, and the "relationship" will stay afloat.

But let's say you're curious about Mika. What happens when you do want to know him better? Well, the short answer is you won't! You will not get to know Mika better. He won't share his real fears with you, and he won't share much of his own past. He'll skirt around questions centered on his own well-being, and even if he doesn't, his responses sound oddly shallow. Your own issues, on the other hand? He's more than happy to help.

Wait. If you can't get to even know Mika, then... Well, what if you think he's kind of cute? What happens to people that take a romantic interest in him? Don't worry! He's willing to give dating a shot, regardless of who's asking him. So go ahead and land your best pick-up lines!

(And if you notice his smiles seem a little too nice, or that he doesn't seem to initiate physical contact, rest assured it's just your mind playing tricks on you. Of course he's enjoying the time you guys spend together. Why wouldn't he? Sure, he may not text back often or call first, but that's just because he's busy with school work. You're a student as well, so you should understand. And who cares if he doesn't say "I love you" much, if at all? Do you really need constant reassurance like that? I recommend speaking with a counselor.)

Plot Hooks

video... games? / Due to his upbringing, Mika has not had much opportunity to really explore the hobbies expected of someone his age. Sure, he's heard of them in passing, but to have really sat down and tried watching anime? To play a... first person shooter? Never. He's sure that his parents would sooner have his head. Thankfully, those same parents aren't around right now! So I'd love if someone could introduce him to these things, and we can laugh as your character laments Mika's lost childhood and very grandfather-like handling of consoles and whatnot. (This can extend to other things as well! If you have something in mind lmk.)

big brother (NOT) / Mikhail tends to give off nice, reliable, elder sibling vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if this caused more soft-hearted/less confident students to gravitate towards him in hopes of receiving some degree of comfort. Which he'd be more than happy to provide, of course! Just at the cost of their loyalty and the potential cashing in of future favors. After all, they kind of owe him, don't they? For supporting them in the way he does? Of course they do.

um... oh no, ahhh. did i sound scared enough? / I've noticed there's a decent number of bullies on the site, which made me stop and think—how would Mika react to getting harassed? Then I realized that hilariously enough, he really wouldn't. So let's play off of that! Maybe Mikhail pisses off your character in some way, but while they try intimidating him, he just stands there in perpetual nice guy mode. This can either piss them off even more or creep them out, and both sound entertaining.

high school musical / One of the few things Mika has been able to engage in, is music. He has a pretty decent singing voice and can play the piano fairly well. As it stands, it's one of the few ways he can express himself, and I'd love if someone could come along and encourage him to pursue this further. Maybe they introduce him to a new instrument? Or teach him about uploading music onto different platforms like soundcloud? What if they push him to actually start writing lyrics? There are tons of things to do with this.
