| The woody scent settled in the lungs of the maiden as she tilted her head back, taking a deep breath—a momentary break from rolling silverware. It was part of her morning duty most Saturdays and Sundays. Funny enough, she enjoyed the task, sipping on her overly sweet iced vanilla latte. It was the calm before the storm, before the cafe opened and customers entered, just a slow start to the day. Most of her daily activities kept her busy with classes, studying, and the many endless hours she spent honing her craft in figure skating.
Standing up and stretching, she dumped all the finished silverware into a tub before setting it in its rightful place. Verity took a second to watch her coworker sweep the floors indoors before moving around the building to grab a few cleaning supplies herself. However, instead of helping within the confines of the walls and roof, she made her way outdoors. She was met with the morning air, the soft orange light from the sun calling the morning birds to wake… or those with other responsibilities. For Verity, it was both. Not that there weren’t days when the young maiden wished she could just sleep in all day long.
The pink-haired girl got to work cleaning off tables, sweeping away debris, and opening up the table umbrellas. While the task required some thought and planning—deciding where to start and where to end—it was still an easy job that didn’t take long to complete. Once finished, she traveled back inside, put away all her equipment, and reclaimed her coffee before finding a place close to the kitchen. She waited for time to tick away until the cafe opened, which would be pretty soon.

For some, running a café didn’t seem all that bad, that it wasn’t that big a deal and perhaps easy when you owned the place, but for Walther he had to disagree entirely. It was a lot more work that one would think, though Walther had slowly gotten the hang of it. Bills, stock, cleaning, wages, quality checks, satisfaction, presentation and more were all things that Walther had to keep in mind when he ran his café and though he had found quite a deal of success, Walther was determined to keep it open and thriving.
As the owner and primary boss of his employees, Walther wasn’t the kind of man to just leave everything to his workers. He made sure to pull his own weight though sometime perhaps he put a bit too much work into it at times. It was an early morning as Walther let out a yawn as he opened the doors to the café, coming in a bit earlier than his scheduled workers so that they could enter the building and get everything prepped and ready for the day.
Walther was one that never did like to stay much out in the front for too long. Though he had customer service experience and he did know how to speak to others, he still wasn’t the greatest at it, at least in his opinion. As Walther stood in the back area, the boss began to clean up the area, sorting everything around while making sure any items requested would be available easily. When the rumbling of his phone went of Walther calmly walked through the doors of the doors leading to the front area of the café and let out a loud yawn, shutting his eyes and covering his mouth as he walked out lazily. “morning kiddos” Walther said.
Opening his eye the male couldn’t help but glance around and cross his arms with a satisfying nod. “Good work you guys, café’s looking good” Walther said and nodded “now let’s hope for a good day” Walther said as he walked over to the front entrance and turned the closed sign around to show that they were now open.
With the café now accepting customers Walther merely walked behind the main counter and crouched down, relaxing a bit as he rested his arms on the counter and let out another yawn.

| The vixen, all in good jest, shot Walther a glare when 'kiddos' left his mouth. How dare he! Her, a kid?! It stung her pride a bit, not that she’d ever show it. Therefore, she quickly turned her glare into a very exaggerated pout. “Come on, Boss!” She added a deep sigh, shaking her head. “I’d rather be called a whippersnapper.” Then the girl slightly grinned before frowning and pulling her eyebrows together in a fake thought. “Isn’t that what senior citizens call the youth these days? Whippersnapper?” With a cheeky grin, she placed her hands behind her back. “That’s more your speed.” She nodded to herself in agreement.
Verity had worked there since her freshman year and was more than comfortable with many who worked there. She had let herself relax and open up, which was why she took a spot near the main counter, waiting for someone to follow them to the table with menus in hand. Always giving any customers a charming smile, a typical friendly waitress, it helped her bring in bigger tips. Though she always kept her distance when not setting anything on the table, she liked her personal space, and she was sure most of those she served preferred it that way too. But because of her past, she knew there were always creeps somewhere around.
Before her thoughts could dig themselves deeper, she pushed them away, addressing the man she fondly referred to as Boss. “How has your morning been?” It was nice to start with small talk, as Verity might not have time to chat when people started to come in and order. As of right now, there were a couple, but if looks served her right, they just wanted some to-go coffee. She brought hers to her lips, taking a slow, small sip, trying not to finish it too quickly. After all, she had become quite the little coffee addict and would probably be buying another one when this one ran empty.

Waking up early wasn’t quite fun, but hey! At least Walther could have gone to work and see the smiling happy faces of his employ-
What the?! What the hell did I do now?!
That was the very thought that filled Walther’s mind the moment he saw his pink haired employee send glare over his way. A look of befuddlement formed on his face and that only grew the moment the moment that she suddenly began to pout and then began to complain about being called a kid. A bit dumbfounded that someone would rather be called a whippersnapper than kid, Walther would slowly begin to get where she was going with her little banter. Sure Walther wasn’t the…smartest socially, but even he was starting to pick up that she was calling him old and his eye couldn’t help but narrow and twitch slightly at the remark.
“Oi, I ain’t that old! Sure I may be more than twice your…age…alright saying it like that doesn’t help my case and sometimes I sure do feel like it…” Walther said as shut his eye and ran a hand through his hair letting out a groan as he self-defeated himself there. Morning Walther really wasn’t the best opponent to spar mentally with after all.
With how early it was in the morning there were only a small few customers, usually a few people grabbing a few quick things to start the day. Whenever it got busier Walther would usually retreat into the back until assistance was needed in the front, but with the few people it allowed Walther to relax in the front for a bit. Leaning forward with his arms still on the front counter lazily, Walther covered his mouth as he let out a yawn as he shut his eyes before listening to Verity’s words. “Well, I’m still trying to wake up so overall kinda crappy” Walther said before looking over to pinky and opening his eye. “How about you ki- err…whipper…snapper?” Walther said still finding it odd she wanted to be called that, but hey, if that’s what she wanted then that’s what she’ll get! With his elbow placed on the counter he raised his hand and rest his cheek on his knuckle as he looked upon her. “You eat a good breakfast? You can’t just live off coffee alone” Walther said as a soft and small smirk formed on his face.
