Short, dual-tone hair covers Johnny’s head. The bottom is close cut and dyed black, To contrast the darker tones of the shorter hair is Johnny’s natural hair colour, blonde. The top layer of hair is thick, messy and blonde with little tidying done on a good day. In the center of the patch of blonde are a few short locks with black tips.
[break]eyes
[break]
Vibrant and attention-grabbing, Johnny has a pair of unique purple-coloured eyes. They are stunningly bright and because of this, piercing to those he gazes at. There is a hardness to them, one almost daring and unwilling to back down. A hard determination shines within them, one asking to be challenged should one dare.
[break]body
[break]
Leaning on the taller side, Johnny reaches approximately 5’11”. By far not the tallest individual, but over the average. The senior sports an athletic build, lithe with a decent building of muscle. There is not extensive bulk to his body, allowing Johnny to maintain a frame narrowly bordering on slender. The most notable traits of Johnny in terms of body are the pair of facial scars on his face. One slices from the lower right chin, reaching up and across the bridge of his nose. Another is a nasty slice to his upper left forehead that occasionally gets hidden beneath his hair, above the brow. Additionally, there is a break in Johnny’s right brow, but no visible scar. While regularly hidden beneath his clothes, Johnny has a black tattoo of abstract, curved lines; almost feathery in a way. It is a little above his wrist, consuming the top of his lower arm.
[break]clothing
[break]
Casual wear in a somewhat punk-adjacent styling has long become Johnny’s preferred clothes. Dark colours are preferred, specifically shades of black and gray. He adamantly refuses to wear anything white, oftentimes snapping how he ‘isn’t fucking pure’ to whoever suggests it. Jeans with rips in them are common for Johnny, the man taking advantage of the “tough” aesthetic. Thick boots and fingerless gloves are other common pieces worn, though in less frequency. Then whenever possible, Johnny will wear piercings. He has piercings on his lobe and helix. At times, in his lobe he wears studs or spikes. Helix is oftentimes rings. While he tends to hide it more, especially from teachers, Johnny does have a piercing on his tongue where he wears a stud.

[break]
- Johnny does have bad eyesight. Normally, he wears contacts, but occasionally he does wear wire-rimmed glasses.

personality
[break]
Raised with a mother who showed limited, genuine care toward him, Johnny is somebody defined by anger and to a lesser degree, resentment. Throughout his life, that festering anger exhibits itself, striking similar to hot iron. Those who meet the blonde discover hastily with the manner he picks at people or the way he snaps. The trait shines best in situations involving authority; something Johnny holds a seething hatred for. Suggestions can be taken in the worst light when somebody is used to others regularly asserting their control. These situations have hardened Johnny, making him abrasive and cynical. Trust will never be an immediately lent card, rather, it is something earned through the brutal onslaught of insults and anger. This is not aided by Johnny’s lack of filter and overall outspoken and blunt nature. There is little kindness to him, and he is determined to show that.
[break][break]
Regardless, Johnny can show a remarkable amount of intelligence, particularly in mathematics. Despite his rotten behaviour, Johnny’s grades prove he pays attention and knows the topics at hand. He hesitantly assists some students as a tutor at the behest of some of the teachers; and for some extra cash. Yet, no level of intelligence can rescue Johnny from his own reckless decision making. There is little to no consideration for his physical health with some of the choices he makes, rather, he almost seems keen on burning himself out before the end of senior year. While this reckless streak fuels his courage it means little with the manner this brazen bravery is used. It appears more used to be reckless or cause endless troubles among students, specifically bullying.
[break][break]
A byproduct from years stuck beneath the thumb of ‘the motherly tyrant’, Johnny tends to be alert of his surroundings. There is an edge to him from years spent being manipulated by her words and feigned emotions. At times this sparks him into independence on account of his unwillingness to be placed under another. The trait does go overboard, resulting in refusals for help because of his unwillingness to be indebted to another. Though after years of people proving themselves undeserving, Johnny does tend to gradually gain loyalty to those he deems worthy. This tends to show with his protectiveness toward those who genuinely mean something to him. There are few people who manage to break through the stubborn and damaged walls of the man who has grown to have countless trust issues. Thus, those who do deserve protection from what his shitty upbringing and circumstances have wrought.

[break]depression
[break]
A turbulent history had resulted in Johnny suffering from chronic depression. He is not properly diagnosed due to homelife being adamantly against it. This heavily tackles his motivation, leaving frightening moments of hopeless listlessness. These episodes often lead to Johnny saying he is sick to avoid school. He tends to become shut out when his motivation tanks, often refusing to see people and remaining in bed for endless hours. Alternatively, Johnny’s depression can lash out in a heightened sense of anger. He tends to get into fights and has little care for his well-being.

- Johnny gets visibly angered by conversations regarding his mother. He despises her and a mere mention tends to show this. [break]

Attention becomes a food for some people. A craving for the glorious spotlight to pedestal the person endlessly while crowds cheer your name. Marion Darby was a gorgeous woman. A part-time actress who became a diva regardless of the low-quality parts she received. No matter how badly she treated people, when they acted out, she would play the role of the crying victim. When she got snippy and someone called her out? Victim. When abandoned because of her snobby standards? Victim. When she threatened a girl physically and even grabbed her? Victim. At every turn, Marion lied, abused and manipulated the people in her life and would suffer the consequences of her actions. It would be the reason she ended up pregnant, her boyfriend turned into an ex-partner after her abuse when a step too far. Thus, when Jonathan Darby was born, he was the son of Marion with no father listed on his birth certificate.
[break][break]
Everything was always his fault and his mother was always right. A glass shattered on the ground from her hand, and he distracted her… Therefore earning contempt from the tyrant of a mother he received in life’s card game. Those years of life were miserable. Constantly, it was Johnny’s fault for everything. It could never be her. Whenever those moments of upset arrived, she demanded her son’s attention. The dependent could not leave her even if he wanted to. She wanted somebody to be in her corner regardless of the horrible things she did. From the yelling, the victim complex and everything in between. Choices were twisted mind games apparently played by a toddler. The desire to have a sleepover with a friend was considered the utmost betrayal. A sin perpetrated by a child who merely wanted to make friends and socialize.
[break][break]
A majority of Johnny’s life was spent forming friendships only for them to disappear because of ‘lack of interest’. There were children who believed the lack of sleepovers meant something, causing Johnny to be abandoned in most circumstances. At a young age, it began. The growing anger in the child as he began bullying his fellow students. He was angry about his circumstance and the longer the abuse went, the more reliant he felt on his mother. That woman made herself the only thing Johnny had… and there were no improvements. Manipulation was common and Johnny would find himself guilted into unneeded apologies as his mother bawled her eyes out, playing her twisted little game. As she spoke, it was always Jonathan. At every turn, she insisted it was proper and correct. She wanted to continue living the high life and it showed when they lived beyond means and were endangered constantly.
[break][break]
In his youth, Marion found herself a man, a Jacob Rudd, who was a wealthy business owner. She charmed her way into his and his children’s lives with a sweet smile and a little manipulation. The woman was a gold digger and it was undeniable. Briefly, the chokehold on Johnny loosened… allowing for his eyes to see reality. He was eleven and began craving a taste of freedom. Acting out became consistent as he snapped at his mother, getting into fights with her on the daily… It started with the first instance where Marion raised her hand against her. The shattering bottle, his injured screech and the shaking concern that arrived from it… When Jacob arrived home, she fed him a bunch of lies… and Johnny, scared to lose his mother, grumbled agreement before being carted off to the hospital. How did it happen? Mother had lifted the bottle and he ran into it. A peculiar coincidence and a complete accident that left a scar splashing across his face.
[break][break]
Afterwards, Johnny’s mood soured as he found himself stuck in a revolving door. There were no options, and he hated it. A mere child, and he found himself growing more and more reckless throughout the days. The scar on his forehead? It was from stupid childhood stunts done with questionable “friends” he made over the years. A single idiotic stunt jumping around an abandoned building for a few moments of freedom, another hospital visit… But he no longer cared. Trapped under his mother’s control, Johnny felt he had nothing waiting for him at the end of the tunnel… and it became worse when Jacob broke it off with his mother. There were plenty of screaming matches between Jacob and Marion… and the reason why sparked further repression in Johnny’s future. One of Jacob’s children came out of the closet… and apparently his mother lost it and made everything about her... The father wanted to slip away from her control, and with the accomplishment, unintentionally condemned Johnny to the vice grip.
[break][break]
Shit-talking became common as Marion insisted on them being in the wrong. Even when she proved unfaithful, it was Jacob’s fault for not pampering her enough… Everything was somebody else’s fault and never her own. Thus, Johnny was catapulted to another man’s home who possessed similar beliefs to hers… It would be where those twisted opinions regarding homosexuality arrived from wanting to impress another man, specifically Frank Shtick. That home turned toxic hastily. There were constant screaming matches as neither wished to take credit for their wrong doings. On the outside, they were put together, even feigning a semblance of wealth. Inside there was turbulence with Johnny being expected to take the brunt of the chores… Yet, he found escape only a few years later.
[break][break]
Panacea Academy was a place Johnny heard of… The grades he managed to maintain through the years as among the only escapes from his dark reality helped him… When the guidance counselor mentioned it, Johnny knew how to make it sound tantalizing to his tyrant of a mother and knob of a “step father”. He arrived home with the scholarship papers. Initially, his mother cried and shouted about how awful it was for Johnny to want to leave… but he played the game. She wanted a good reputation, and Johnny knew it. He began telling her about how because she and Frank were wealthy, him going to the local academy where the other rich kids went should be normal… or at least, shouldn’t it? Manipulation can be something learned, and Johnny learned a lot from her after all those years being under her thumb…
[break][break]
The following year, Johnny began attending Panacea Academy and finally felt free. That first year was difficult, that anger remaining as he attempted to find himself. He ended up on the bad crowds regardless, befriending other bullies once again. When freed, Johnny thought he could explore himself more thoroughly. He slept around with girls and occasionally got crushes at a young age. A time arrived where he liked one of the other boys in the group… only to learn their opinions on it. The derogatory language toward same sex couples… locked him further in that closet. Being himself meant condemnation from those around him and Johnny hated it. There was freedom, but there were the opinions of others as well. This cruel condemnation only increased those reckless tendencies… and as those high school years ticked by… Johnny realized through the phone calls and his mother’s forced contact… There was a chance he would end up going back…
[break][break]
That haunting reality of ending up trapped with his mother if he failed to find a way out hit him… but working for money became near-impossible. His mother would come in and start a scene, and Johnny would find himself fired due to her repeated intrusions. There was a safe space now, but that did not necessarily mean escape. He began acting out, getting piercings and tattoos to no longer appear as “mommy’s precious angel”. It left him wanting to crash and burn before graduation, getting as much joy as possible out until he returned to his mother’s cage.
