THE DUSTY STUDY  Interacting with the DESK 🤚● As the brass key slides into the lock with a soft click, you feel a faint, unsettling pulse through your fingertips. Slowly, the drawer loosens, and then, with a sudden creak, pops open on its own. An old, brittle piece of parchment rests within, covered in spooky handwriting. As you study the words, you hear a quiet, mechanical thunk from the far side of the room. Looking up, you see that four books at the center of the bookshelf have popped out, their spines jutting slightly forward, as if waiting to be selected. Nicolas hadn't liked the 'vanishing' act, but he had to admit pumpkin-suit's reaction was amusing as he froze the second the lights turned back on, practically glued to his spot. Yeah, it was a haunted house, but it was the most life he'd seen this guy since coming into this f**king room. He raised a brow, making a mental note of just how easily the guy rattled, could be fun later. Then he flicked his eyes over to fallout-boy, who was getting ready to use the brass key.[break][break] When Pumpkin decided to join them in Nicolas designated 'safe' zone, his reply was lackluster. Maybe if Nicolas wasn't interested in winning he might have tested Pumpkin's patience a bit more. But the room kept him preoccupied, the drawer opened and the f**king bookshelf clicked.[break][break] Looking up he watched four books slide forward...showing them all they had to go back to where rat-boy had vanished. "F**k my life," he muttered, reaching for the parchment to open it atop the desk.[break][break] Reading it over silently, he glanced to the books. He couldn't see the titles from where they stood so he had to go closer. With a heavy sigh he went over, but didn't get too close still weary of f**king this entire thing up.[break][break] He read the names out, and then looked back to the note. "Bloodstone Chronicles is my guess," He glanced towards the others brow cocked to see if they agreed. [break] [attr="class","double"][break] [attr="class","trouble"][break]  [break] [attr="class","pop"]they hadn't discovered anything else that could possibly need the key. he hoped the key would open the drawer. he sighed with relief when he he heard the lock click. the drawer opened by itself and he stared at the contents. a piece of parchment. scarecrow had been faster and while he read it silently. james managed to catch a glimpse of the words.
so maybe the kid that had disappeared had been on to something. he was by the bookshelf that last time they had seen him. clearly they needed to a pick a book. now which was the correct one. as the titles were read aloud james spoke."secrets of the manor makes more sense to me..."then again did anything really make sense in this place.
he turned to look at mister pumpkin. he had been quiet for awhile now."your pick pumpkin."  Urijah watched as James opened the desk, flinching when he heard the bookshelf make a click noise. He glanced in that direction to see the books had slide forward. He looked back towards the desk when Nicolas had grabbed the parchment and he moved closer so that he could silently read it. He watched as Nicolas moved away from the desk and walked closer to the bookshelf. He listened as Nicolas read the book titles out loud. Nicolas mentioned Bloodstone Chronicles and James mentioned Secrets of the Manor. When James told him to pick, he took a step closer. "Okay James." He whispered, hoping that James heard him as he walked towards the bookshelf to read the books titles again. The worst that could happen is that he'd disappear right? He thought to himself. "I think it's Bloodstone Chronicles." He answered before reaching out to touch the book.

The lights flicker wildly, then go out completely, leaving only the eerie blue glow of a candle by the window. A cold breeze brushes past your ankles, quickly followed by an icy gust that assaults your group, sending shivers. When the lights finally return, the room is filled with a dense, swirling fog.
