For the past month, Cyrus had noticed this little black cat coming and going on her own private schedule. Roaming the campus grounds as if she owned the place and had very important business to attend too. She clearly wasn't a stray as she did have a collar and looked to be taken well care of. However, how someone could just let a sweet bean like her roam unguarded was a mystery to him.
Regardless, this did not stop Cyrus from taking the girl home with him and treating her like the Queen she was! He had even gotten her her own little bowls with food and water for when she decided to visit him (or when he kidnapped her), a blanket, little toys and a few cute sweaters as it turned cold. She wore them without complaints.
What the real kicker was when she decided it was time to go “home”, Cyrus would include a note attached to the collar. Stating she had been fed for the day and had a new toy to take home, which was also attached to the collar.
She would then disappear for a time only to reappear at his dorm for love and food. As for day, Cyrus found Midnight sunbathing on the grass outside the dorms. She was instantly scooped and plopped into his hoodie as he did his weekend ventures around campus.
Now, at the Cafe he ordered himself a warm drink and a snack as he took a seat in one of the many booths, Midnight wrapped around his shoulders contently as if knowing she was about to get a treat herself very soon!

He was aware and unbothered by the fact she clearly had at least one other person doting on her, if he went by the gifts she'd bring home and how pleased she'd look with herself. He knew the kitten was very affectionate and it was likely to get herself a fan club of sorts, as not many people could resist her adorableness. He found himself wanting more caffeine and so he wandered to the cafe, though he hardly stepped inside when he heard a familiar mew of greeting. [break][break]
"Midnight?" Violet eyes flickered around until he found his kitten cuddled up to someone he didn't know, though she hardly looked bothered about it. He'd deal with it after he had his caffeine secured, quickly placing an order he payed for and received in short order. With it in hand he'd circle around in order to do just that, slipping into a seat opposite the stranger. "So you are the mystery cat spoiler, huh?" His tone was neutral but questioning, a single brow raised. He was rather difficult to miss after all, lit up like one of them bright ass Vegas neon signs with all that color. [break][break]
"I suppose you're difficult to miss." He took a sip of the coffee, his own attire rather dark being that it was mainly black. Black as Midnight's fur, save for splashes of pale greys and blues. Even his nails glimmered darkly, coated in sleek black polish. [break][break]

Cyrus sipped on his drink, a moment later he broke a little piece of turkey off the small sandwich he had purchased as a snack. Said piece was then offered to Midnight who took it without question. "You're welcome." He spoke with affection to the cat and was content in sharing his food. Giving her a good scratch under the chin, he took note that he was no longer alone. A smaller teen slid into the seat across from him, staring at him and Midnight. Cyrus offered him a small toothy grin. "I assume then, that you're the mystery owner then?" He countered, watching the other from over the rim of his cup as he went for another sip. Amusement danced within the Skittles eyes. Hard to miss? Yeah, that was one way to put his style of clothing that vastly different from his own in terms of colors. Their darker base matched but beyond that, nothing else did. Not even their painted nails while the other kid had dark paint, Cyrus was bold with numerous colors. "And, I suppose you blend into the shadows like a ninja." A finger gestured towards the dark color scheme. |

He takes a sip of that life-saving caffeine, the bitter taste washing over his tongue. He hadn't gotten any food or snacks with it, as he didn't feel particularly hungry. At the response though, he quirked an eyebrow and laughed for a moment, clearly amused by the sentiment. "While I prefer black, I still tend to stand out too much. Comes with the territory of having your face plastered in a lot of places. Thank you for being nice to my kitten." Not everyone was a cat person after all, no matter how friendly the cat in question was. To be honest though, he'd probably kick the absolute shit out of anyone who would even think to hurt Midnight. [break][break]
"Looks like she has you wrapped around her paw." A quiet observation, easily the truth considering how much she has been spoiled. He would prefer her to not start to become naughty, or acting out due to a lot of indulging. Would she ever get that bad? He took another drink of his coffee, once again smoothing over agitation and frayed nerves. For better or worse he was in a somewhat content and neutral mood, which was leagues better than any of his extremes. He was known to flip moods in an instant though, which lead to potential treacherous social interactions. If that would or wouldn't happen - well, it remained to be seen. [break][break]

Bingo. Mysterious cat owner has finally been found after this feline had been semi-claimed by himself for quite sometime. Ah well, that wouldn't stop him from feeding, playing, and spoiling this sweet princess for all eternity. As he thought this, he pulled another small scrap for Midnight and gave it to her without ever looking way from his new found company. A moment later, he too would take a bite out of his snack. As he chewed, his brow slowly lifted into the air as he listened. Hm, face plastered around things hm? Now that he thought about it, this kid did look familiar to him to some extent but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. It felt like information he should know. For the time being, he would put that thought to the side. "You're welcome. She is the sweetest bean. Great snuggler too." He added in with a small laugh. Cyrus gave a helpless sigh as he shrugged his shoulders in defeat. "What can I say? I'm a sucker for small and cute things. Especially, when they purr so sweetly." Quite happily, he rubbed the side of his head against Midnight's who seemed to purr on cue. "Im surprised you let this sweet bean roam on her own all over campus. Aren't you a touch worried she might get snatched?" |

He was certain that she was both more affectionate and smarter than other cats, and he could swear she could tell when people were talking about or to her. "Seems like you'll give her anything she wants." Was that really a good thing though? His phone buzzed in his pocket, but he ignored it for now to take another sip of his coffee. It was probably just a text, since he hadn't set any alarms for the day. "Not at all. Cats don't like being locked in against their will, and she always wants to come back." [break][break]
It really was that simple to him, and cats could be notorious escape artists. "You hang out here often? Or only when you have the princess in tow?" A question for a question, a simple conversational flow. He doesn't really care much at the fact he was feeding Midnight scraps and treats, just will adjust ehr food later so she doesn't get fat. He was one to pay mind to the well-being of Midnight after all, just as meticulous if not more than he is with his own health. He reaches over to give her chin a scratch, not really caring if that's technically invading Cyrus's personal space bubble. [break][break]

Cyrus gave a half shrug in agreement, he supposed cats will do as cats please to do. If they wanted out then they would run for it. He was at least appeased with hearing that she did return home. That put him at ease because he always did wonder when she left his dorm, if she would go right back him. "I suppose you're right on that. Im just glad she gets back home safely." He then would chuckle and do a full shrug with open palms at his statement. "Meh, what can I say? She's got me wrapped around that little paw tightly. I'll give her anything she wants. So long as it is safe for her to have." He did give her scraps but he would never give her anything that would be harmful. Another bite of his snack and a sip of the drink and his hand went to plaw with a paw resting near his neck. Midnight didn't seem to mind and appeared to be enjoying the attention fully. Though, it seemed she did perfer her owner in the end. As soon as that chin scratch happened, she slithered off his shoulders and hopped onto the table. Making her way over to Lotus as happy as a clam. Cyrus pouted, "Noo, don't leave me so soon, Princess!" But alas, she was gone and now paying full attention to her Papa. He sighed softly, finished his snack and looked rather amused at Lotus. "Hmm, I come here off and on, more so when I have a good reason too. What about you? Come here for the coffee or looking for the baby?" To be quite honest, he was half tempted to ask where his chin scratch was since, apparently, it was so good that Midnight decided to go home! |
