i’ll go with you. my blood, i’ll go with you. ❝ Mika supposed that all the mishaps happening thus far were just his own fault. Either that, or the universe despised him. First, he should have figured something was amiss the very instant he fell out of his own bed and landed directly onto his face. Then there was finding his favourite shirt dyed a peculiar shade of pink. Was there even enough color in his wardrobe for something like that to happen? Mere seconds passed before the culprit made itself known—a lone, red sock hidden in the corner of his laundry basket. The boy wasn’t quite sure the sock even belonged to him, but regardless, he would definitely no longer wash his clothes during the night. He was obviously not awake enough to refrain from silly mistakes. However, that was only the beginning of his troubles. The more time passed, the more nonsense occurred, from dropping his phone onto solid concrete, to nearly tripping down a flight of stairs. At this point, he almost expected a UFO to abduct him by the end of the day. But no, that was likely just his frustration speaking. If he had a better grip on his phone, it wouldn’t have fallen and cracked. If he was paying more attention, his foot wouldn’t have gotten caught in his pant leg, and he wouldn’t have gotten a near heart attack trying to right himself. Again, all his own fault. Despite his bad day, Mika hoped that he could at least find some peace by the lakeside. It was autumn after all, meaning that most people wouldn’t be hanging around, waiting to dip into freezing cold waters. So there he was, seated by the very edge of the deck. A quaint little book could be seen in his grasp, already halfway read based on the position of his fingers. Not a soul present to disturb him. No possible misfortune ready to crash down onto his head. Perfect. @open ● babum bluebell shenanigans babum ●

. Kyren Vanderfeld . Freshman . Panacea Academy
There was a cat. Kyren saw it quite a few times in its comings and goings around the school. He’d always wanted a pet cat, and he knew if he turned in the right paperwork the school would let him have one. The cat was a small grey tabby with bright round green eyes and Kyren wanted to be its friend so, so badly. So what if he hadn’t even so much as seen the papers and didn’t really have food or supplies to take care of it yet! His parents could help with that, maybe? Maybe they could help him over the weekend…
But today he was prepared. He was going to catch that cat! He’d pilfered some chicken from the school cafeteria and he was going to trick the cat into being his friend, and then, he was going to catch it.
Kyren remembered that he usually saw the animal down by the Hobbies Centre located right in front of the lake. So that was where he headed, or at least tried to. His sense of direction wasn’t the greatest, and he could’ve ended up just about anywhere. But today he’d done good and had only wandered the campus for a few hours before he found the spot he needed to be in. The cat would definitely come to him!! He set his backpack on the ground, and pulled out the ball of tinfoil he’d had used to protect the cat’s meal and began to unravel it.
“Here kitty, kitty.” He set it on the ground, and almost as if on cue, the tabby cat he’d want to befriend so badly came scooting around the corner, sniffing the air. The bespectacled boy could hardly hide his excitement, despite knowing he had to in order to prevent the cat from being scared away too quickly, “Good kitty… good girl.”
The cat hesitantly came up to the food and looked around for a few moments before sniffing it and beginning to eat. Kyren stiffened up in order to hide the giddy feeling welling up within him. The cat was here! It was eating his food that he brought it! Yes!!
Now was the waiting game. Once the cat was done, he would make the jump for it, and grab it and then, Success! The plan would succeed and he’d be able to take his new best friend to his dorm, and okay, maybe he would’ve had to hide it for a while until he got his pet plans approved, and *maybe* he would have to hope that roommate wouldn’t snitch but he had full faith in this plan working!
He sat watching, waiting, refraining from petting, even though every part of him longed to. He had to be patient…… Patient… Kyren felt himself get closer and closer to the ground as the cat finished up the chicken he’d brought, SO CLOSE… And! As the cat took the last bite, the blackette made for the pounce! And right in time, as he had the creature in his arms.
“Yes!” Kyren said, trying to adjust his arms around it so that he wouldn’t hurt it, but it was hard with the way the cat was squirming and scratching at him, trying to escape his iron grip, “No! Hold still… this is what is best for you!”
It didn’t take more than a few seconds for his new “friend” to get him with one good swipe to the cheek, the Kyren dropped it and it took off.
“Wait!” Kyren cried out, holding his cheek where the blood was already beginning to bead, “I’ll be a nice cat dad, I promise!” He was chasing after the animal by now, not even remembering that his backpack was on the ground, or realizing that they were headed straight towards the lake where a certain someone was hoping to have a relaxing afternoon.
As he rounded a tree after the cat, he realized it was too late to hit the brakes for the both of them. They’d run right onto the dock, and the cat jumped up, on top of the kid, pouncing on top of the book to knock it out of his hands, and Kyren created the second issue by crashing into the dude, which sent his reading material flying into the water. Luckily neither of the boys fell into the lake themselves, but the poor cat had and was now looking truly like a mangy stray as it swam onto the shore and scattered away.
But Kyren had bigger things to worry about now.
“...... AH! I’m so-so sorry Mister, uh… sir… UH!” He scrambled backwards, untangling himself from the guy, “Sorry, sorry, sorry!! I’ll replace the book…”

i’ll go with you. my blood, i’ll go with you. ❝ To be honest, he was not one to pay much attention to his surroundings. Of course, he could appreciate the soft autumn breeze that ruffled his hair, along with the distant sound of birds chirping in the background. But more often than not, the surrounding reality was tiring. Tiring to the point that he usually wished to lose himself in a variety of his favorite songs, or perhaps a fictional world filled with wonder. And after such a long day, he was desperately trying to recharge his energy. So yes, he allowed the originally serene atmosphere to lower his guard. It was reminiscent of white noise, the kind which drowned the senses and helped focus the mind. That was why he stood no chance against the feline that basically assaulted him not long afterward. Actually, the situation was far worse, because not only did the cat send his beloved novel off to Narnia, but another random force had rammed directly into his back. It was a blessing that he wasn't situated too close to the edge of the dock, at least not enough for the shove to send him tumbling over. Still though... his book. His eyes were locked onto the floating mass of paper, slowly sinking into the depths below as the devil cat floated nearby. Was that his fault? No, that couldn't possibly be his fault. That was the universe biting him in the ass, and unfairly so. And wasn't that someone speaking next to him—behind him? Behind him. Thus, Mika turned slightly, just enough to face the owner of the voice, and fixed his gaze upwards. The stranger was tall and filled with nervous energy. Well, assuming this other boy was the cause of the crash, that made sense. Mika could sense the flare of irritation which struck him then, enough to force his eyes to close and a deep sigh to pass through his nostrils. Easy. Relax and take control. "No, it's okay," he reassured after a moment, his tone soft and gentle, "Mistakes happen, yes? Just try being more careful in the future. Your well-being is more important than a book, and it wouldn't do to get yourself hurt like that." That wasn't fucking true. His book was very important, far more important than some random student, but sharing this information was unthinkable. That cat was still in the lake too, wasn't it? He needed to do something about that; being unreactive towards pets was generally frowned upon. Peeved, the junior focused his attention on the animal that was already paddling its way towards land. Good, he wouldn't need to go in himself. He took a few cautious steps forward before settling onto his knees, reaching out towards the cat that was practically trying to jump into his arms. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly... docile, because although it willingly entered his grasp, Mika could feel its claws digging through his clothes and into his skin. He stood up with a clenched jaw and the cat desperately seeking out his body heat, connected to him like a lifeline, all fur and freshwater and pain. "I don't see a collar. Does this... 'little guy' belong to you?" he questioned, his body very clearly struggling in the process, "Or is it—are they a stray?"This fucking sucked. Kyren Vanderfeld ● sorry for the length! i'm still getting used to him, so i might ramble

"No, it's okay," The mysterious student stated gently, prompting Kyren to calm down somewhat from his previous chattering, “Mistakes happen, yes? Just try being more careful in the future. Your well-being is more important than a book, and it wouldn't do to get yourself hurt like that."
Kyren nodded solemnly, watching as the other boy managed to get the cat to leap willingly into his arms. He could feel the jealousy surge within him momentarily, before he paced over to the two of them slowly. The poor cat seemed to be clinging onto him, nails and soaked body and all. God, he wished it were him instead.
"I don't see a collar. Does this... 'little guy' belong to you? Or is it– are they a stray?” The other boy hadn’t let the cat go yet, so could Kyren say it was his? Would he believe it? Maybe it wasn’t good to lie… Lying had gotten him in trouble in the past before. The lady in the white car didn’t want to listen to his lies. Even when he wasn’t lying…
“It… ah…” Kyren shuffled his feet, “It is a stray. I was trying to catch it because I wanted a friend.” His voice was quiet, and he scooted closer to the two, before squatting down and wrapping his arms around his knees. The cat seemed to stiffen up a bit, was the kitty really so afraid of him? Maybe it hated him after he’d chased it. But he couldn’t help what he’d done in passion! He wanted a cat friend! And that cat needed a home! He would just have to be gentler… Like this guy, it seemed like.
“Do you think I can hold it?”
