Offering the water bottle was natural. The brunette was a father first and foremost. While it occurred earlier than Warren expected, he took the duties in stride. Somebody needed to care for Penny and the tall man was determined... Despite the exhibited care going a touch overboard occasionally... How could he stop himself as the father to an amazing young woman? There were plenty of instances where he needed to reign himself in to avoid overstepping his parental authority. The sophomore needed to begin learning to handle matters herself for the sake of her maturity; he could not shelter.

He nodded and put the water bottle back down on the blanket. However, Warren was happy Penny would share with her friends first and foremost. Sharing was sweet and he wanted his daughter to know it was appreciated, but additionally, he wanted the teenager to enjoy herself. The metalworking teacher's eyes gazed over the campus as he spent time with his daughter. When Penny commented on the wood carved gift, a broadening smile lit Warren's face.

"I did take inspiration from your favourite shows, movies and books," Warren explained, a chuckle leaving his lips. "I'm just glad you still like fairytales. It is an interesting topic."

The thought of daring knights and princesses made a thought pop into Warren's head. A gentle 'oh' escaped his lips as his gaze shifted over. Regularly, the pair attended renaissance fairs and Warren had refined his work on the armour set he was making.

"Also, I managed some more work on the base of the armour I'm doing for the next Renfaire," Warren happily declared. "Still working on the implements to make it appear more draconic... Buuut, is there anything you need me to make for your costume?"

Work on metallic or wood carved implements for Penny's dresses and accessories was something Warren always offered. Renaissance fairs were attended together, thus Warren enjoyed working alongside his daughter to assure their homemade costumes were at their best! It was among their father-daughter enjoyments and something that allowed their artistic avenues to play a role.

Somehow she didn't really guess that he'd remember many of them, though the fact he probably saw it at least fifty times probably helped. He probably had that one song about the rainbow candies stuck in his head, or would get it stuck if someone so much as played the opening few notes. Tears taken from a phoenix and a few plucked hairs from the unicorn's mane, to be honest it seemed horrible in hindsight. Hair sounded particularly nasty to consume, even if it was from some magical critter. The texture would remain the same as any other hairs, and it'd probably get stuck in your teeth or throat. [break][break] Was he talking about what she thought he was now? "You did?! I bet it already looks so amazing!" Her eyes brightened and practically had stars in them, vibrating with an exuberant energy only the youthful or truly hyped could manage. This was one of her favored topics after all, and she'd have to be in a particularly bad mood to not be overjoyed about it. At his question though, she settled a little in thought. Wasa there anything she needed, even though she was secretly working on multiple costumes on the side. Well....there was the problem she was having with seashells but that was neither wood nor metal. "I keep breaking the seashells whenever I try to craft with them. I either crack them and they fall apart, or I don't put enough pressure on them and they fall off. The tiara is that metal one you made me that looks like bubbles, but they keep breaking on cloth too. Either I put too much pressure and they crack, or I don't put enough and they fall off the glue." Remembering the childhood shows Penny watched was among the easier topics to remember oddly. When Penny was young, Warren was still in university, learning to become a teacher. Settling down beside his daughter while she watched her cartoons was among the easier father-daughter events he could do. The young father was busy, but something that allowed multitasking made it easier. There were times Warren devoted his entire attention to his daughter, but he enjoyed the loud of her shows while he studied. It became an oddly pleasant background noise as he worked through school.

Then there was the infamous need for repeat a majority of children requested. Thus those shows became an evident background throughout Warren's young adult life. Each was permanently burned into the large man's mind, not that he held issue with it. He wanted his child to enjoy herself. It was what mattered more than his studying peace... He somehow managed to receive excellent grades regardless of missing sleep and the childhood antics of his daughter. The long-haired brunette nodded when Penny exclaimed about the draconic armour base. There was a soft chuckle as she complimented his skills.

"Of course!" The large man bellowed loudly. "I will send pictures once I manage to get a little more work done on it."

There was plenty of work needed for the suit of armour, alongside a need to figure out a cooling system... if possible. Suffering was occasionally a part of the costume world, and Warren was willing to cook to show off the gorgeous metalworking he accomplished. The teacher listened to his daughter's explanation about her woes. Breaking seashells and the crown was also causing issues. A soft 'hmm' slipped through pressed-together lips as the large man thought a moment.

"What about... I make you some wooden shells and we can paint them. Or you can yourself if you have ideas. As for the crown... I can take it back home and see about fixing, repairing and maybe strengthening the work. If not, I could remake you something stronger, Penny," Warren offered, voice even as he pondered.

The wooden shells would be harder to break. There would be no thin shell walls that could not handle a lot of pressure. The carving work would be simplistic and achievable with scrap pieces; he assumed Penny needed smaller carvings. They could be used to clean out his scraps a little! The crown would be a harder part to handle, but Warren could review the blueprint and materials to make it stronger... Potentially at the risk of a little more heaviness.

We're gonna fly away [attr="class","prism-onebody"] In all honesty she would be a little shy to admit it, but she took a little inspiration for her mermaid princess outfit from the pokemon called Primarina. It was one of her favorite ones when she had started playing, even if she didn't really play that much anymore. Sometimes she'd dust off her old game console, and pop in that Pokemon Moon cartridge just for nostalgia. It had been the first starter she had ever fallen in love with, though admittedly she had given them all some pretty cliche names. As her father responded to her excitement though, her mind was brought back to the more present. [break][break] "I'm looking forward to seeing those! I might even show some of my friends." She was rather proud of her father's skills after all, and couldn't help but want to brag a little bit. Her belief that he was the best parent ever still stood strong, unshaken by anyone and anything. They've been together through both hard times and the fun ones, forging a bond that truly made the family one that would be very hard to pull apart. He had always indulged her harmless desires even if they were ridiculous...., she remembers how horribly she had used to paint his nails. Even now he was thinking about how to solve her plight, giving it serious consideration.[break][break] When he finally gave his suggestion, she became even more excited. "Oh, I think that would work! I'll try to find paints that fit the more pastel colors..." True to her nature, now that there was a solution her mind would travel a mile a minute. It took very little to cause that domino effect, her thoughts racing around and around in her head as she thought. Shells made of wood would definitely fail to crumble, she should have thought of something like that way earlier! Some part of her should have known how delicate real shells were, and had kind of regretted it after the mess the broken pieces had made after being scattered everywhere. The inspirations of Penelope's mermaid outfit were somewhat unknown to Warren. It reminded the brunette of the shows his daughter watched alongside some Pinterest inspirations for mermaids. Admittedly, he thought her inspirations were derived from an image board in the app or some pictures found on the internet. Potentially, it came from sketching or doodling to brainstorm potential designs. Regardless, the brunette was determined to help his daughter with her desired design. While working at the academy allowed him to visit his daughter frequently, they were separated. However, the one-armed man believed it would help his daughter to become independent in the future. There were sayings about how parents were raising future adults, not children per se... and once Penny entered her adolescence, Warren began believing it. He needed to prepare the girl for the world beyond and the accident played a role in learning that hard truth.

Her mind was a swirl of different colors, spinning around and around like a wheel. Pinks and off-whites, those were the most common colors for those little shells. There weren't any large shells in her design after all, and she had managed to take care of the teardrop designs with little fake gemstones she picked up at a craft store. Part of her wanted to show off her work in progress pictures, but then it would partially spoil the finished product. She was pulled just a bit out of it at the response though, she had gotten way too aahead of herself and had not elaborated. [break][break] "I got carried away again." She looked a little sheepish, though she knew it was unlikely her papa was that bothered by it. "You know those really small ones that always wash up on the beach? The suuuuper little ones? Ones like those, just big enough to have detailing." The words tumbled out in just barely not a excited babble, though they were faster than her normal talk due to the sheer excitement. She decided against waiting until it was done to show him, pulling up her phone and locating the images. "I'd love a family night! She didn't much care if her papa knew the truth of it after all, he pretty much knows all the things she has been a fan of over the years. Now she was even more excited, knowing that she would get a tasty warm meal out of it. They were always full of flavor, and never known to have a boring taste to them. Sometimes things were a little too spicy or overly seasoned, but she liked them for the most part. Homey flavors were far better than anything fancy and expensive, plus she liked to think food cooked with love was more delicious. An assessment occurred in Warren's head as he mentally went through the wood scraps he had. Tiny pieces cut off from boards for larger builds that required specific sizes and full planks. Given there were builds that required small, wooden carvings, Warren kept a box filled with scrap pieces... Every few months the large crafter was required to sort through the pieces and attempt to figure out what was usable and what was not... Most were usable and he attempted to find uses with upcoming projects to carve and use. The waste was something Warren hated. The brunette wanted to use every scrap in the box and would if possible.

His daughter need for sturdier, wooden shells meant he could potentially lower the amount of remaining scrap. Thus, as Penny explained, Warren nodded along. A soft smile touched the brunette's face as he nodded in confirmation to himself.

"I can do that. I have more than enough wood scraps for it," Warren answered with a happy chuckle. "And I know, but the bribe helps! Besides, I like cooking for you when you're home. It feels special, especially with you living on campus."

A gentle, warmhearted smile appeared on the bearded man's face as his golden eyes regarded his daughter. Thankfully, living in Wisteria City allowed for Warren to frequently have his young daughter visit. Then attending the school failed to keep the father away given his line of work... However, there was a stark difference between having Penny live in his household and her living on campus. The separation nurtured independence, but the father knew he would enjoy spoiling her. The teacher kept in mind the desired aesthetic his daughter wanted, planning out the carved wooden pieces and formulating a possibility for the crown.

With Penny staying a few nights during one of the weekends, Warren could start and having the young girl supervise the progress over the day for the shells. The crown could allow for compromising if worked on while Penny was around to have the feasibility explained. It would make it easier to handle.
